I am an 18 year old highschool student in Missouri, USA. I get great grades in school, I'm going to go to college next year and study to be a nurse. Naturally, my favorite subject in school is biology. :) I am the student technical director at my school, meaning that I run the sound and light for the auditorium, and I manage a "tech crew" when we put on plays. I love theater and being a techie! Although I never get on stage, I also love to sing, play piano, and tap dance. I really enjoy cooking (especially using recipes from old cook books). I like to play old Nintendo games; my favorite game, though, is Harvest Moon! I love pretending to be a farmer. I am on the board of directors of French Club at my school. I am not fluent in French, but anyone who knows me will hear me speak in that language a lot. :)
Old-timey folk and bluegrass is my favorite. Some folk singers that I like are Jean Ritchie, Doc Watson, and Elizabeth LaPrelle. The older the folk ballad, the better!
Being a thespian, I of course love musicals. Since I listen to such a wide range of music, I will just say that I also enjoy listening to Queen, Rufus Wainwright, James Taylor, Simon and Garfunkel, Frank Sinatra, and The Beatles.
Nonfiction and historical fiction are generally my favorite genres of books.
Specifically, though, my favorite books are the Harry Potter series, To Kill A Mockingbird, The Lord of the Rings, The Picture of Dorian Gray, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, The Life of Pi, The Silmarillion, Frankenstein, The Other Boleyn Girl, The Little Prince, and anything by Sarah Waters.
I LOVE The Office! Dwight Schrute is the best. I'm also a fan of The X-Files, Family Guy, The Simpsons, and House.
I really like movies. My favorites are One Night at McCool's, Singing in the Rain, Sweeney Todd, Evita, Hitch, Across the Universe, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Cold Mountain, Titanic, The Princess Bride, Moulin Rouge, Phantom of the Opera, Office Space, and Little Miss Sunshine.
I don't get around to doing a lot of arts and crafts, but I do enjoy needlepoint, quilting, and ceramics. I collect antique photographs, and put each one in a collage of cool, random items. I don't know what you call that (collaging?), but I think it's fun! As for crafts I'd like to receive, I'd say that anything goes. Anything pretty and creative will make me happy!
I like music, coffee, kitty cats, antique photos, antique anything, science, flowers (roses and lily of the valley), milk chocolate, tea, elephants, interesting anecdotes, trees, nature, thick socks, whales, romance, lacy things, saltwater taffy, the ocean, deer, pretty stones, birds, fairy tales, France, French things, and horses. My favorite scents are clean cotton and ylang-ylang (separate, of course!). My favorite color is blue, although I love all colors as long as they aren't too bright.
I don't like fruit/berry flavored teas, or anything too garish. I also have an aversion to the scent of oranges.
That's it!! I'm pretty easy going.
