I love Kumihimo (ancient Japanese art of braiding) and beads. I fell in love with working with seed beads about 40 years ago when I bought my first pair of cheyenne dangle earrings. I paid $20 for them, took them home, carefully took one apart and put it back together. I was hooked. I learned how to do Kumihimo last July. When I saw it, I thought it was bead crochet (just learned that at the time). I was totally floored with Kumihimo from that point on and now take my disk with me everywhere I go. I work with incorporating the two together into jewely.
Some other crafts I like to do is crochet, quilting, and working with polymer clay. I love crocheting granny squares and ripples. I crochet afghans and hats. Just learned how to make slouchy hats and love them. I also crochet baby hats and blankets.
I learned how to quilt last year and swap fqs and blocks in 2 other groups on the net. I don't have a favorite block yet. I like them all.
I work with polymer clay for focal pieces for my Kumihimo pieces. I also like to make polymer clay beads. I am working in a ceramics class to make beads.
My Favorites: Color - Pink, Green, Turquoise Fabric - Batiks Crochet Patterns - Granny Squares and Ripples (DC) Beading Techniques - peyote, herringbone, brick Pieces of Jewelry to wear - long earrings (the longer the better)
