Hello! I'm brand new to Swap-Bot (as of September 2020). I love to send and receive mail. I'm based in Washington, DC. I love to go on walks to the arboretum, go on hikes, and read, especially outside.
Until COVID hit, my main hobby was swing dancing (Lindy hop, to be specific!). I love jazz and dancing to music, and I love moving my body in time with music and being in an atmosphere where everyone is also doing the same.
Dancing is not exactly advisable during a global pandemic, so I'm using this time to rediscover old hobbies. I love collage and scrapbooking, I love sending postcards, and I'm getting into watercolors.
Finally, a story:
When I was twelve and bored one summer, I decided to write a fan letter to everything I could. This was the days before the internet, so I mostly sent letters to authors and the addresses on packaging. I would be silly about it. My favorite two letters that I received were answers from Roald Dahl's publisher (I knew he had passed away already, but I wanted to write him anyway), and the Pillsbury Doughboy.
From you: Like I said, I'm brand new to Swap-bot. I'll love anything you send me. If you need ideas on what to write, I would love to hear what you had for breakfast, or about a favorite pastime. I want to know how you're feeling today and how you hope to feel tomorrow. Tell me something about where you're from -- what makes your place special? I would love to hear about your pets: their names, attitudes, and favorite foods. You can tell me a secret, a recipe, what you're afraid of, a cool thing you learned recently, or what you're grateful for. I would love to hear all of it! I am open to having longer-term pen pals as well, so let me know if you're interested in that.
To do: Collage, water color
To receive: Any and all!
I love so much music. I've been really digging into Jazz from the 1920s through 1950s, but I also love classical (Dvorak's New World Symphony is one of my favorite pieces), hip hop (Anderson Paak and Chance the Rapper are my current favorite artists), country (nothing will ever top Johnny Cash, unless we're talking Dolly), pop (forever favorite is Janelle Monae, but Prince and David Bowie deserve honorable mentions), and that doesn't even scratch the surface.
What is your favorite music? I'd love to hear!
