Hi. I live in London, UK and sewing keeps me sane. I'm a scientist, which is a more creative job than people often think it is. I'm not a designer but I'm enjoying playing with the design process and am trying to teach myself some basic design skills.
I enjoy making bags, aprons, skirts, softies etc. When I'm away from my trusty sewing machine I'm often found with some embroidery and needlepoint, it's soothing. I don't knit, I just can't get the hang of it. I've recently started quilting and dressmaking to keep me entertained in the long winter evenings. When I start a new craft project I'm filled with a mixture of excitement and trepidation (but what's the point if it's not a little challenging?)
Strong colours, especially purple, green, blue, red and orange. I prefer brown to black. Fabric! Small flower designs, stripes, dots, small animals designs, robot/rocket prints. Solid colours. Stationary. Interesting bookmarks. Strange sweets/candy from other countries.
Lots of pink. Fluorescent colours. Large floral prints. Strawberries. Religious things and imagery, including prayers, icons etc. (I respect other people's religious beliefs but I expect people to respect my humanistic beliefs in return.)
Seam rippers/unpickers (I lose mine and so can never have enough). Thread spools/bobbins. Threads (sewing and embroidery). Ribbons. Zips. Beads. Magnetic clasps and bolt snaps. Sticky labels.
