About me...hmmmm....I'm a born-again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ; I lost my best friend and husband of almost 25 years in an auto accident 12 years ago, and the Lord has blessed me with another wonderful husband. I have two great sons. My husband has two really enjoyable kids too...all grown, so we're at home with just our little blue dapple doxie, who can't decide if he likes me or my hubby better. I guess it depends on who's feeding him at the time...and on whose legs he gets to curl up. We love to travel (Road Trip!!!) and see new things, and visit with friends over coffee and pizza. We take TONS of pictures of places we've been, and I try to use the pictures in postcards and bookmarks and greeting cards I make.
My favorite music is Christian, mainly the old hymns. But I like some of the newer stuff too, as long as it lifts up the name of Jesus and isn't trying to sound like a pop culture song. I like old stuff like Keith Green, Don Francisco, Rich Mullins, Brent Lamb, and much of the older Messianic Jewish music. I like instrumentals and some classical (NOT opera!).
I like a lot of stuff by C.S. Lewis, Dickens, some of Josh McDowell's writings, and old classics like "Gone with the Wind" and "To Kill A Mockingbird." "Where the Red Fern Grows" makes me cry, but I love the writing. I like funny books, inspiring stories, some Christian fiction, and a lot of the how-to books - like crafting, sewing, cardmaking instruction books with illustrations.
We like the old movies, '30s, '40s, etc, especially ones with Jimmy Stewart, Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, Bob Hope, Laurel & Hardy, Abbott & Costello, and that sort of thing. Newer movies we like are "Courageous" and "Fireproof," and one called "Faith Like Potatoes," which I loved. And my favorite animated movie is "Up." Wouldn't it be a kick to have a dog like Doug!! I love that doggie. Since we don't get TV (and I don't miss it), we watch old VHS tapes we have of our favorite old TV series. We have a lot of the old Andy Griffith series, but would love to have the entire set. We also have a lot of the old Beverly Hillbillies, some Patty Duke, and various and sundry other old TV shows. I wish I could find the original I Love Lucy series, the really old ones, with Fred & Ethyl and before they had "Little Ricky" in the show.
Eclectic, I'd think. I like jeans and sweatshirts, glitter and bling, both vintage decor and modern decor, soft, girly-girl colors and bright, vibrant colors. My basic style, though, would be hodgepodge, a little of this (hodge) and a lot of that (podge).
I've found that I have an interest in many types of crafts, but sadly have not mastered any of them. Right now my favorite is sewing; I also enjoy cardmaking, scrapbooking, photography, and am beginning to learn jewelry making. If you can call cooking a craft, I like to try new recipes for different things. I also have found a bunch of interesting ideas on Pinterest for things I'd never thought of trying, like making my own bath salts and birdfeeders and water colors. So much to try, so little time! A friend at work collects stamps for his church, and they use them for ministry projects. Since I don't collect stamps myself, I give whatever I have to them. They would LOVE foreign stamps of most any kind, so I hope to be able to pass some along to them.
Everybody has certain things that make their teeth clench and their fists flail. Rap "music" has that effect on me. I use the term "music" very, very loosely there. Other epic dislikes: violent movies; anything ghoulish (including Halloween); profanity; rudeness; scantily clad people (male and female) in movies and on ads; politics (mainly b/c of the blatant lying involved); liver and onions; horehound 'candy' (another loose use of a term); supposedly professional publications with incorrect use of pronouns and punctuation and with misspelled words. I don't even know what's current on TV, but I know that I do NOT like shows that bash men, make women look like sluts (sorry, I know that's not a nice word, but very descriptive), and/or portray kids as the only ones in the family with any sense...and I'll stop there.
butterflies; hummingbirds; puppies and kittens; pretty material - getting quite a collection! making purses...carrying purses...giving purses to friends/family; getting letters - actual, handwritten, letters - in the mail - actual, USPS, snail mail; knee socks and sweaters; coffee with cream and NO SUGAR; tea with sugar and NO CREAM; southern sweet tea; southern anything; pretty bookmarks (Love making them!); lace and beads; vintage aprons - and patterns for making them; flowers of all kinds; flower seeds; herb seeds; jeans with interesting back pockets (I make purses from them); doilies (yup, they make great embellishments for purses); pretty coasters; ladybugs; feathers; costume jewelry (don't usually wear it, just think it's cute); bling stuff - like glitter and shiny things; old books and magazines; puzzles - like cryptograms and anagrams and crosswords and so forth; sewing supplies (hang out at Jo-Ann's a lot); scrapbooking/cardmaking supplies (spend too much time at Craft Warehouse too);
FAVORITE COLORS bright colors - they remind me of summer; soft colors - they remind me of spring; I'd say blue is my favorite...until I see something in rose or lavender or red. Then I think they're my faves. LEAST FAVORITE: browns, olive drab; muddy colors, grays (e.g. pewter - except, of course, when it's on pewter).
FAVORITE FOODS strawberries! almost all fruit, actually; caramel - I like it better than chocolate; mashed potatoes with butter on top; peppermint ice cream
