Added 9/30/24 - I am dealing with some unexpected life drama at the moment, so while I am able to fulfill all swaps I'm currently signed up for, I won't be signing up for any more until I get this sorted out. I will probably also be slow on message responses / group participation for a hot minute, so thanks in advance for your patience. I'm trying to get everything settled as quickly as possible and will update again when things are sorted.
Hi! I'm Leigh Anne, and I'm new here, so thanks for your patience while I fill out my profile. I'm married with two cats. I work in a library. I don't spend nearly enough time making art like I'd like to, but I read a lot and listen to a lot of music. The most important thing I can tell you about myself is that I love to learn new things, so while I hope this profile is helpful to you in terms of things I would especially like, I would also like to learn about the things YOU like, minus the few deal-breakers I've mentioned below.
I love all kinds of music. I have a special interest in film scores and TV theme songs, but I also like jazz, classical, opera, hip-hop, grunge, some metal, world music, dance/techno, and the good old-fashioned pop song. Classic rock and 80s music are big favorites too. Music is one of my first loves -- I'm saving up to buy a digital piano so I can start taking lessons again - so receiving anything music-themed would be just wonderful. Exception: country (see dislikes, below).
Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy, Our Mutual Friend/Dickens, Dune/Frank Herbert, Yoga for Arthritis (not even joking). Mrs. Dalloway/Virginia Woolf. It's hard to pick favorites because I love to read in all genres and formats, including comics/graphic novels/manga, so anything bookish / library themed you can send me is wonderful. I never have enough bookmarks.
Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill (parts I and II), Grosse Pointe Blank, Casablanca, Real Genius, West Side Story. Aside from these films, I am not much of a movie person (though as mentioned above, I am really into film scores, Go figure.). So, no pressure to do any sorts of movie themes/projects for me.
HBO's adaptation of His Dark Materials, The Good Place, Doctor Who, Torchwood, The X-Files, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Babylon 5, all the Star Trek. If you had to pick any two to focus on, theme wise, I am obsessed with HDM and Doctor Who.
Cross stitch and collage are my main two, but I never met a craft I didn't like (and I have the stash to prove it). I am trying to get more into paper craft / scrapbooking / junk journals, so vintage or goth ephemera would work nicely for me. Ditto old sheet music, or any ephemera that uses sheet music motifs. I do not need any more cross stitch floss or patterns. I could do swaps, but please don't gift me any. I very recently started rock painting, and am testing out different kinds of acrylic pens - maybe we could swap rocks, if you're into that too?
Washi. I love washi, and would love to both receive and swap some. If you had absolutely no clue what else to send me or use to decorate cards, washi would be the right answer. I also love to give and get book and music recommendations! Stuff that makes me smile when I get it: stickers (including planner stickers), bookmarks, goth aesthetic stuff (both traditional and "she went straight to pink"), Alphonse Mucha /Art Nouveau images, bisexual flags, smart-alecky pro-autism swag (examples: a button or sticker that says, "We can't all be neurotypical, Karen" or "Rizz 'em with the 'tism), coffee and tea, but please no earl grey as I am allergic to bergamot. My favorite season is fall, so anything that smacks of coziness, pumpkin spice, warm socks, etc. is a vibe. My favorite artists are Mucha, Van Gogh, Monet, Manet, Degas, so any stickers/washi/cards featuring their art are especially appreciated. My most recent artistic obsession is Remedios Varo.
I'm not keen on licorice or hard candy. Honestly, I'm not wild about the idea of getting snacks in the mail (though I will gladly send you things you like). I really don't like anything country/western themed, and I don't like or want anything Harry Potter themed. As you can tell from this profile, I'm not really the traditional "inspirational" type, but I do love snarky motivational quotes and humor.
Washi, stickers, book and music recommendations, collage/paper craftal supplies, books, Tarot decks & cards
I am secretly three raccoons in a trench coat, and hope you are, too.
