I alter, collage, paint, print, felt, design and make jewelry, scrapbook, stamp, decorate cakes, paint furniture and take photographs. I see the possibility for beauty in trash on the street. Every day when I awake, I whisper my mantra: "Today I will make something beautiful" But of course, Art isn't only about beauty. Creating Art gives my life meaning and purpose. Sometimes it is about the pain of loss...about sorrow, about longing. Sometimes it is sustenance for my soul.
Tolstoy's Anna Karenina is my all time favorite. I have read it three times. I also love anything written by Milan Kundera. There are so many amazing books out there. I gravitate towards biographies (especially of artists) because I find that they describe in detail another human being and the way they reason or the choices they have made in life. I am fascinated by the fact that often times the main character in a biography is more unpredictable than any character conjured up in a work of fiction.
Altering, collage, inchies, ATCs, cards, scrapbook pages, felting, nuno felting, jewelry, beads, polymer clay, printing, painting, stamping, cake decorating,
Downton Abbey, History Channel, The Forsythe Saga, Friends,
I'm not much of a collector. I love anything to do with tea and teatime (and I confess that I have collected a few dozen fine china tea cups) I love papers of all kinds. I enjoy punching out tags out of beautiful papers and embellishing them with fibers, inks, stamped images, collage elements.....I also have a tool addiction (hammers, files, pliers, drills & bits) I use them to alter metal.
