My family is what I surround my life with and is the most important thing to me. I'm married to a wonderful, hard working man "Mr. Numbers" who works lots of long nights in the accounting industry. That enables me to be able to stay home with our boys. We are homeschooling our children so my days are filled with being mom and teacher. This year my 6 year old is working on first grade and my 3 year old is enjoying the world of imaginary play.
Most things by Hayao Miyazaki with my favorite being Totoro and Spirited Away. I also love animation by Pixar. Though my favorite curl up in bed movies have got to be Volcano, Twister and the Mummy. My favorite chic-flick film is Under the Tuscan Sun. On my wishlist is Dante's Peak which I can't seem to find locally!
My primary reads are fantasy and paranormal romance. Hence my love for Briggs, Hamilton and Piers Anthony (Xanth). Historical romance by Gaelen Foley or Mary Balogh also finds its way onto my shelves.
I also enjoy a mystery novels but generally lean more toward the "fun" murder mysteries like The Cat who (Braun), Chocolate (Jo Anna Carl) and Hannah Swenson (Fluke).
I am a bibliophile when it comes to children's books our library is growing weekly and we are always happy to add new books. I especially like books that explore other cultures' myths, folktales and celebrations. We have a strong love of all things pirate in our household and that is reflected in our children's books. Some of our favorite pirate books are Pirate Pete, Captain Abdul's Pirate School and How I became a Pirate.
I love the color blue and all its lovely shades clear into purples. Blue is my color of comfort.
I love dragonflies and butterflies. Whimsy often appeals to my heart. I'm not much of a sophisticate.
My favorite season is Fall with all its wonderful oranges, reds and browns.
I love socks! Fuzzy, short, striped, polka-dots. Just putting on a new pair of socks brightens my day.
My favorite scents are lavender and lavendar-vanilla. Though my boys' new dragonsblood soap is giving it a run for its money! My personal scent is lavender and I love to fill my home with its spicy smell.
Chocolate is my first love. With almonds being second. Put them together and I'm in heaven!
I am an avid tea and coffee drinker. I enjoy most teas with flavored black and herbals being my favorites. My favorite new tea find is vanilla caramel. I love "fru-fru" coffee and I never drink it black. Mildly strong with cream and honey is my new favorite way to make it at home.
I knit so I love yarn. I am a novice knitter only up to basic hats and other more simple projects. This year I aim to expand my project goals to include fingerless mittens!
I'm currently expanding my sewing hobby and have very little in the way of notions. The remnant bin has been good to me lately! I have boys so I don't need a lot of little girl pinks and purples. Though I will gladly add a womanly pink or purple to the pile of fabric for ME!
