About Me
- In T-shirts, I take a woman's XL
- In shoes I wear a 7 1/2 or 8 womens (wide, US)
- I have small hands. They are not child's size, but they're smaller then the average adult.
- I was born and raised in Southern California USA
- My favorite colors are Green and Orange. (And yes, I do believe that those two colors go together. But I think that when they are mixed, there should be more green then orange.)
- I sew and I've recently learned to knit.
- I prefer to knit with wooden or bamboo needles.
- I'm in Grad School
- I work at the Ren Faire on the weekends for three months in the summer.
- As fans go, I'm not "slashy"... If you don't know what that means, then just disregard this one.
- I like to go for walks/hikes and listen to audio books and music on my MP3 player. (Which is not an iPod, nor do I use iTunes. Not because I hate Apple, I just don't use them.)
- As you may be able to tell from the fields below, I'm a Doctor Who fan. But I also love Murder Mysteries, Star Wars, Good Eats, The Middleman, The Mighty Boosh, Burn Notice, Firefly and lots of other shows/movies/books.
Whovian Proclivities
- I don't really have a favorite Doctor Per sae... But I think it's obvious that I'm partial to 4 and 5. I also have leanings towards 7 for his delightful vaudevillian flamboyance. (He plays the spoons, who doesn't love that?) I love that 2 played the recorder. I think 3 had the best sense of humor. 6 wore spats and that was the only part of his wardrobe I liked, and even though I didn't like his coat I have to say that it was very cunningly made. 8 had the best voice. I love 9 because the force of his personality overwhelmed the ordinariness of his clothes. 10 I think is getting a bit needlessly messianic (to borrow a phrase from Douglas Adams), but I love his exuberance (and his coat, and his shoes).
- My favorite companions (in order of appearance) are Jamie McCrimmon, Sarah-Jane Smith, Leela, Turlough, and Donna Noble.
Favorite Crafts
- I've recently learned to knit. I prefer bamboo circular needles. I do not spin my own fibre, so don't bother with roving.
- I do sew and I work at the Ren Faire. So a yard or two (or three or four) of any natural fiber fabric or trim would be useful to me. Two and a half yards of any 100% cotton fabric will make me a pair of bloomers. :D
- I also enjoy using those special paints you can use on ceramic and glass then bake off in the oven to create a (somewhat) sturdy glaze.
Sarah-Jane Adventures & Torchw
- I really love Sarah-Jane Adventures. I don't exactly have a favorite episode, but I was terribly pleased when the Brig made an appearance.
- There isn't anything about this show that I don't love or doesn't amuse the hell out of me.
- I do watch Torchwood. Though I would say it's my least favorite of the three.
- I love that it takes place in Wales. Part of my Mother's side of the family is from Wales and it's rare that anybody around here has any idea what that means. My Great Grandmother was from Merthyr Tydfil. (Which is where the warehouse from the episode Meat was.)
- My favorite Torchwood episodes are Countrycide and Random Shoes
Food
- I can't abide the combination of mint and chocolate. I like both things, just not mixed together.
- I generally prefer candy without nuts. Peanut Butter cups = good. Mr. Goodbar = not as good as Peanut Butter cups.
- I hate cilantro and LOVE shallots
