I was born in Cheyenne, WY to a military family but we moved to New England when I was a toddler. I am currently in cosmetology school and will be graduating in September 2011. I began crocheting with my mother when I was six years old but, as six year olds tend to do, I forgot about it until I was in my late teens. I love to make scarves and blankets and love to give them as gifts. I hope to expand my skills in the craft and am currently interested in felting. I would also like to learn to knit. I enjoy scrapbooking but have not worked on many projects. I love feeling proud of things that I make and can never wait to show someone. I am currently learning how to cook but have the palette of a five year old, so I am trying to find recipes that I will enjoy eating. I always aspired to be the domestic goddess type and am constantly trying to learn new things to make my dream come true. As someone who is just starting out, I welcome any advice that comes my way.
The colors that I always go crazy for are jewel tones, I can not resist them. I love amethyst and sapphire blues. Love it! I am also a big fan of copper. Any color that could be described as a "happy color", I probably also love. My favorite color combinations are:
Jewel tone with another Jewel tone, especially Amethyst with Emerald
Blue and Brown
Teal and Brown
Pink and Brown
Pink and Gray
Pink and Black
Yes, I am a complete girly girl. However, my apartment is decorated in fall colors; brick red, copper, browns, etc.
I love tropical blues.
I am very picky about greens. I love emerald. I like blue green, forest greens, etc. I don't like pea soup, screaming lime greens, etc.
Here's a List of Some Things I like, Listed In No Particular Order:
I love Archie Comic books and The Betty and Veronica Comic books
Cupcake accessories, such as, potholders, pin cushions, etc
Scented soaps, lotions and candles. I like the smell of jasmine, sandalwood, coconut, vanilla, vanilla orchid, baked goods
Cute stitch markers
Fairy Tales
Even though I am a complete girly girl, I have a fascination with ghosts, urban legends, scary movies, halloween and the slightly creepy.
Soft yarn that I can't stop touching
Post-it type note pads with bright patterns
Cute Magnets
Puzzles (crossword, word search, suduko, text twist, etc.)
Pretty and or frilly aprons
Pretty paper- I am making my own cookbook scrap book style
Anything for cooking and baking
Recipes
Little project booklets for crochet
I love amigurimi but, if possible, I like it to have a purpose, not just sit on a shelf. I think they are so adorable, I just don't want them to get dusty or lonely.
In general, I like things to be useful. I'm not really a knicknack person.
My boyfriend and I spend a lot of time hiking, canoeing, picnicing, etc. So we love anything outdoorsy.
I appreciate the thought, but I would rather not recieve:
Anything dirty, broken or used
Anything to do with mice - I was bitten by a feild mouse when I was 7 and ever since cannot even look at them. I'm convinced that they are sinister little things. :-)
Anything mint flavored
Tea
Anything with banana flavoring or scent
Postcards - I will think that they are advertsements and throw them out. Sorry, I won't mean to do it but I've done it many times.
I am not into raunchy things, I get uncomfortable quite easily.
Things that are seasonal in such a way that I can only use them for a couple of days, unless, of course, that's the swap. Examples: Santa Clause napkins, Easter Bunny socks, etc.
Please see my color preferances, especially green.
I am allergic to mushrooms and all seafood
I love books especially ones that are either historical, fantasy or spooky; the three together makes for great reading! I enjoy supernatural mysteries and biographies as well. I like being taken to a place I will never explore in real life.
Books I currently want to read are the Gregory Maguire series and Tracy Chevalier. I own a lot of her books; the ones I'm missing are The Lady and The Unicorn and Remarkable Creatures. I have not read any of Maguire's but really want to.
I don't care for harlequin romance novels or anything overly sexual.
I joined Swap-bot for two big reasons: to have an outlet for my crafting passion and to meet some really amazing people. I believe that the members of this site are not only dedicated to their craft and expanding their skills but are also generous with their time and knowledge. I hope to live up to that description and will only sign up for swaps that I know I can be 100% commited to. I will never be a swapper who expects somethimg great but slaps something together quickly for you. I promise to send and I promise to rate fairly and honestly. I put alot of thought into my ratings and would never rate based on my like or dislike of what was sent. I will only rate based on the swap requirements, if I don't receive a swap I will contact you before rating. I want to thank all of my partners for taking time out of their day for me and I look forward to working on swaps for someone else.
