I was born in Northern Ireland, emigrating to Canada as a child with my family, so I still love all things Irish. I was able to realize my dream of a photo safari of East Africa a few years ago, and was also able to visit Ireland and England again for the first time as an adult.
My camera is my trusty friend in helping me see the world through fresh eyes, I also write, do collage and have been making mail art for about a year. I try to see each day as an opportunity for creativity, whether in small ways or in large...
I have many interests, including books, art, architecture, archaeology and theatre. I also love animals and the outdoors. A perfect afternoon would be taking my dog for a long walk, while photographing whatever oddities catch my eye on the way. I prefer time-worn buildings and forgotten corners, to the road well-travelled.
I'm fond of browsing through antique malls and thrift stores looking for the vintage and the unusual. Motifs that often show up in my work include: birds & birdcages, dress forms, keys, doors & windows, houses, stamps, old text, dragonflies and Celtic knots. That being said, I love to be surprised and challenged to use something I haven't thought of before.
I look forward to exchanging mail art, ideas, small treasures and of course, friendship.
