I'm Verena, living in the west of Germany, the state North-Rhine Westphalia. I'm 22 at the moment but am going to turn 23 on Halloween, which makes me feel ooooold! You could say I'm suffering from an early midlife crisis! ;)
For the past 2 years I have lived in the USA and just got back home earlier in spring this year. (Hearty greetings to Maine, which feels a little like a second home now :D). I'm not sure if I'm all that happy about being back, though.. one eye is smiling while the other one is crying, as we say here in Germany.
Starting this winter semester I will be a full-time university student majoring in International Management/Anglistics/Sinology. I'll really have to get my Chinese kickin' now, but I will do my very best! :D Languages are something I love and I also speak German (of course), French and Italian. To be able to hold my head above the water and also participate in lovely hobbies such as this, I work as a waitress in a nice little cafe and as a private tutor for a few languages.
I've loved having penpals and exchanging gifts from other countries for as long as I can think and really adore handwritten letters and mail you can feel is coming from the heart. I'm the Snail mail ambassador! :) Completely head over heels in love & obsessed! I love foreign languages, travelling and seeing as much of the world as I can. I'm an active Postcrosser on the main site (www.postcrossing.com) as well as on the forum and love collecting postcards of various themes.
Another thing I probably couldn't live without are animals. They make me incredibily happy, I volunteer at the shelter and am one of the head foster homes of the area. Next to the foster animals I also have a number of own pets - at present 3 obstinate cats and 7 pet rats. ♥
No allergies whatsoever!
(Geez, sorry, I seem to have trouble with keeping things short)
Discovering this site was a little like a dream come true, because I've been looking for something like this for the longest time! It certainly is hard to find reliable swap partners for lovely and completely random things to make you happy. I'm a complete Newbie and quite nervous about doing everything right after seeing all the drama about disappointing swaps / unreliable swap partners on the forums. As far as I saw almost no Swaps accept Newbies like me, but I hope to find a nice Swap Group somehow, somewhere to prove myself - we've all started at one point in time afterall! :)
Please, keep in mind that I'm from Germany and mail might take a little longer than you might be used to. I got many many presents from Germany while I was still living in the USA and you would probably be appalled at how long some of the bigger packages took to reach me there! :) Envelopes of any size are usually quicker, boxes can take a loooong while. Worth it, though! :) Please only judge by the stamped date and not by how long it took. Please contact me if you haven't received or heard from me before being sad and rating badly. I will also always consider resending if something truly has gotten lost. I want us all happy with swapping! :)

Hi! I have a swap that seems to be right up your ally going on... it's called My Pet Rat and it's a letter mail art pen pal kind of thing sharing all about your pet rat. Please check it out. I would love for you to join & meet other rattie lovers across the world. Thanks!
Welcome to European Swappers!
