First, I am brand new to swap-bot. I just sent off my first swap, so I'm hoping I did it right! I am an educator currently working in higher ed, but I've also worked in preschool and elementary school special ed. So clearly I love teaching and learning. The biggest thing I miss now that I work with college students is the opportunity to do crafty little classroom projects or creating arts and crafts activities for the students! I have 3 dogs who are my fur babies...all adopted from the local humane society (adopt, don't shop!). I got married this past summer and still like to craft things I would've used at my "picnic by the lake" wedding which included a visit to the local ice cream stand and a paint your own birdhouse activity (which was surprisingly my husband's idea).
Parks and Rec, Scandal, NCIS, How to Get Away with Murder, any true crime/mystery story (think 48 hours, snapped, etc), Sherlock Holmes, Eureka, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Finding Your Roots, Antiques Roadshow, The Great British Bake Off, Call the Midwife, Broadchurch So in conclusion, BBC, murder mysteries (but not the gory parts), and parks and rec. Also, it sounds like I watch a lot of tv, but I'll usually not watch any all week long and kinda binge watch on a Saturday afternoon while I clean and get stuff done around the house.
I love all kinds of books. Until recently I had a very long commute to work so I listened to all of the new J.K. Rowling books and I loved them! I love the standard classics like Pride and Prejudice and Harry Potter (yes, I called them classics). I also love what my husband calls "trashy romance novels". And Nora Roberts, and other less trashy romance novels.
My most favorite thing to read though, of all time, would be children's books. Any and all of them. I am partial to classics, the Caldecott award winning kind, but I love all kinds. Big fan of books that have girls as the hero or talk about differences, encourage kids to be themselves and/or do the right thing (like it's ok for boys to be sensitive or fearless and girls to be tough or like pink), etc. I'm loving Mo Willems right now because I love how silly his stories are and how much the kids laugh when I read them. Instead of greeting cards with friends and family, I request books with a note written inside and am trying to build a pretty great children's book library before we have kids. I love that the books I get that way will have a special message in them that we will remember for a long time to come.
