At this time, I will be visiting Swap-bot to update at times, but I am taking a break until August or before if my husband and I are done with a few home renovations we want to do. I have to shift my sewing budget into things like paint, new light fixtures, and fixtures. You can IM me if you need anything before then.
I am a 37-year-old, married amateur sewer from Georgia. I work as a school librarian during the day. I've been married for five years, and I am a mom to two crazy dogs and a cat.
I enjoy having a hobby for the first time. Being in my late 30s, I look back and wish I had started earlier. But I have so much to look forward in learning the craft! It's never too late to start.
Right now I am working on pin cushions and bookmarks/paperback book covers for summer reading. Bright and fun geometric fabrics are great! Also, the season is changing, and I am looking for fabrics for Spring and Easter.
I put extra effort into my swaps to make them nice for the receiver, as most people do. Many times, I sew more than one item or include other crafts not asked for in the swap. I carefully package what I send so that is like opening a gift. That is the joy of sharing. While I don't expect the same extended level of participation from swappers that get my name, I think that the integrity of the website is maintained and the spirit of giving is honored when everyone fulfills their commitments.
I listen to anything because we are a musical family, but I prefer adult contemporary, down tempo, progressive 80s and new wave, classical, alternative folk, pre-70s jazz and bossa nova.
Being a librarian, I read a lot and don't really have a favorite book. I feel nostalgic for the science fiction I read as a kid, but I like metaphysical and supernatural fiction these days. I never re-read a book, and instead of remembering characters and plot elements, I take a lesson from each book that becomes a integral part of who I am. Books are like people" in my book"- every one deserves to be appreciated and respected and every one has something to offer to the world.
I am a Christopher Guest and Monty Python fan. I love humor when people make fun of themselves. I tend not to even take myself seriously!
My TV tastes change all the time. It's easier to say that I don't like medical, cop or law dramas, nor do I like whatever is the popular choice of the masses at the moment. I watch some reality TV, but I have become a reality snob (can you imagine- as if there is good reality and bad reality programming). I like home fixit, cooking, and craft shows, of course. Weird historical shows are also a fav- Cities of the Underworld, If These Walls Could Talk, Histories Mysteries.
I am teaching myself to sew, and I have started weaving scarves on a loom. I love fall-colored yarn, random ribbon stashes, and bright cotton fabrics. I do not know how to sew specialty fabrics, so I stick to cotton and polyester blends. My favorite colors are gray, baby blue, heather green, and any form of red. I love all kinds of prints, and kiddie fabrics are great because I can use them for my dogs.

re:Fabric Art Divas- March YGFQ-s and an extra goody -Mini-Winner. Thank you so much for the 2 FQ-s and fabric bookmark (pattern reminds me Arts&Crafts stained glass) everything is beautiful! A.
Thank you so much for the Japanese knot bag and extra pin cushion for the FAD I'm practicing PIF tag game! My 3yo, who adores handmade things, slept on the "pillow" pin cushion during his whole nap today with the bag by his side. I've since reclaimed them but you totally made both of our days. :) Thanks again.
Thank You so very much for the wonderful "tag" package you customized for me in the FAD group "I wish for..." game! I am just thrilled & grinning from ear to ear. Everything will be perfect for my gothic faerie doll. Now I want to freeze time and do it now, but have WIP's to finish first! Thank you so much! I just love this! Thank you Thank you Thank you! You deserve stars & hearts for this! ~A~
Leigh, you are a wonder! I got the siggy square today and I am in awe! It was so beautifully and thoughtfully designed. I know it will be the star of my siggy quilt.
And the luggage tags are a hoot! I love them. Thank you sooo much. My Mom-in-law (83 - whom I love dearly) is stopping her flight here in Philadelphia on her way to Morocco) She is arriving today and leaving Monday. I'm thinking of lending them to her so she can find her luggage easier, aging eyes being what they are. But I will definitely want them back! :-)
This has been a wonderful first swap for me. I hope yours have been as good. I hope we meet again in the swap rooms.
