PLEASE NOTE: I swear, I will rate you. Sometimes it just takes me a while to get to it--I've never not rated anyone. I'm an awful procrastinator, you see.
I'm a social worker by formal education who informally studied ceramics for a decade. Recently, though, my creative tendencies have taken a turn and I find myself quite intrigued with collage, mixed media, and photography. I consider myself a novice in all these areas, but life is about new discoveries. That being said, Facebook and Words with Friends takes up too much of my time, so I need some constructive distractions.
Things I love: vintage paper of all kinds, finding gems at garage sales, thrift stores, estate sales, and attics, indy music, reading, writing. I adore color, strong shapes, skulls, dark themes, wrapping paper, wrapping presents, words, seeing the beauty in the unusual and offbeat, and Sharpies. I adore Sharpies. I quiver when I acquire new Sharpies. Sharpies are (almost) the best thing ever.
Oh...and shoes. Shoes make me weak at the knees (which is too bad--because then I have a hard time rocking the heels) and are serious contenders for Best. Thing. Ever.
My personal style and outlook on life is heavily tinged with irony and sarcasm. Therefore it should be no surprise that the...
...things I hate are: cute sayings cross-stitched and framed, cute animals framed, cute phrases painted and hung, or anything cute. I'm not crazy about scrap book supplies (namely stickers and the paper, which really does nothing for me) but please know I respect the craft.
You can click on my blog to get a better idea of me and my current self-induced project.
I'm looking forward to being a member of what seems like a vibrant online community.
WOW
I've been reading other profiles and it would appear this site places a high premium on long-winded write-ups. So I'm feeling some pressure to add more info...
American Beauty, The Matrix (the first one, the second two were a bit over-the-top, although that highway scene in Reloaded...), Pixar Movies, True Grit, Star Wars (The original one that came out in 1978, purely for sentimental reasons), Inception, Notting Hill (solid guilty pleasure), Better Off Dead (we all have a cult favorite, right?), documentaries, The Graduate. I'm sure I'm forgetting some. I'm over 40, and being in this decade is frightening. It would appear that the more years I tack on in age has a direct inverse relationship with my cognitive faculties.
Gone With the Wind, The House of Sand and Fog, The Corrections, Freedom, Rising Tide, lots of non-fiction generally sociological in theme, and mind twinkies. Not romance, but "chick lit". For instance, Jennifer Weiner is my girlfriend.
Oh, Netflix, how I love thee! Because you allow me to watch TV with abandon, and I oblige. I couldn't tell you how many shows I've binge watched over the years. My all time favorites are The Sopranos (Best. Show. Ever.) The Wire (Tied for Best. Show. Ever.), Mad Men, The West Wing.
Indy rock, jazz, EDM. Coffee house play lists also make me happy.
Primarily working with paper: mostly combinations of vintage, recycled, and my own creations. I've been making my Christmas cards every year for almost 20 years, ATCs. I make paper dolls and I've been toying with cyanotype for the past year.

Hi Tanya,
The tape that I used for your package was from Michaels. I'll keep an eye out for it and if I see some more I'll get it and put it in the post for you.
