Hello. I'm Brigit and I'm in Norfolk, VA (Virginia, rated the 3rd worst mail delivery in the country) with my husband and cats. Children and grandchildren are scattered. I love art as much as I love random acts of kindness which Swapping feels like to me. If you received something from me and are on Instagram, kindly post it there and tag me #bbpolymath...this will let me follow you back to your account :-)
10/27/24 - 260 swaps as of today. Still happy despite the learning curve. Thank you to those who have been kind and patient. Continue to have mail issues. One PC got here after 5 months. Seems several swaps did not make it. PLEASE let me know, I'll resend. My mail seems to come in a deluge - nothing for 1-2 weeks then a huge pile of SB stuff. Kinda like Christmas but I wish they'd manage to get them here daily rather than in a giant pile.
Still a newbie compared to most of you. It seems I'm mostly interested in doing ATCs, Deco Books and the random PC. I hand draw often: pen, ink, marker & paint with watercolors and acrylics more than I collage... but I am getting better at collage and layering. I do try to stick with US only swaps now as the cost & waiting on international gets old. If you don't care for what you get from me, please chop it up, reuse it in some way and send it along. No issues with any of that on my part. Oh, and if given a choice between card, tag, etc., I'll always prefer an ATC. Thanks.
Specifics:
FAV MUSIC - I lean towards acoustic and ballads: Harry Chapin; Cat Stevens; Gordon Lightfoot; Home Free; Music, Love Travel; etc. Also love Eagles, CCR, Paul Simon, Doobie Brothers, Indigo Girls, Phil Collins. I don't expect to be doing music swaps but there you go
FAV BOOKS - All of Laurell K Hamilton's work. Orson Scott Card. Sprinkle in Jitterbug Perfume, Illusions, Island in a Sea of Time, Shibumi. The add in Dave Asprey, Tim Ferris, Robert Kiosaki, Abraham Hicks. Plus of course Art DIY books for colored pencil, gouache, really any how-to craft book.
FAV MOVIES - Romancing the Stone, The Fifth Element, Venom, Guardians of the Galaxy, Die Hard, Fast & Furious series... love the Hobbs & Shaw split off.
FAV TV - Sens8, Lie to Me, Criminal Minds, Good Witch, FarScape, The Amazing Attorney Woo, Marco Polo, Wheel of Time and more.
FAV CRAFTS - Currently I am doing a lot with paper and a lot with paint. Junk Journaling, card making, quilling, rock painting, pour painting, fabric painting, etc. I play with acrylic, watercolor & gouache as well as colored pencils, markers, and graphite. I am also fascinated by woodturning and wood burning. Love miniatures esp hand made from found bits. Have a few BookNooks calling my name.
I have done and appreciate fiber arts: lace making, embroidery, crewel work, knitting, crocheting, tatting, quilting. Weaving of fiber, fabric or baskets.
FAV COLORS: Teals, the lovely Caribbean blue green from lightest mint to deepest turquoise. teal with copper is delicious. Or gold. Love metallics, iridescent & color shift. Also teal with purples or corals. Even deep royal blue and gold. The red/orange/pink family is for highlights unless well balanced with blues and green.
FAV SUBJECTS - Sunshines, bees, dragons, hummingbirds, octopus and most ocean things (above & below), beaches, sunrise/sunset. Travels, compass star, maps or globe items, steampunk esp airships. Also things with a bit of medieval feel; apothecary, tavern, witchy feel = King Arthur, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Wheel of Time kinda stuff.
FAV SCENTS - vanilla, cinnamon, clove - I love spices. Think chai. For soap, candles, anything. Please do not send fruity or floral anything. Thanks
FAV FOODS - I typically steer away from sugar but will make an exception for the unusual chocolate or spice candies. Tea is good. Nuts, also good.
YES PLEASE - I love rocks, minerals, fossils, teeth, feathers, different colored sands. Also appreciate spice teas and unusual spices. Cats of all sizes and breeds except the smooshed face kind. Otters. Sea mammals esp dolphins & whales. Ice cream. Moroccan amber. Detailed work esp vintage things like lace, tatting, embroidery. Holographic stickers. Sparkles. Interesting paper. Maps. Boxes. Art deco. Celestial. Die cut. Fairies/mystical. Foreign language pages. Hand drawn/hand painted. Interactive ATCs. Metallics. Dragonflies and dragon as well. Travel. Adventure. Whimsical. Steampunk.
NO THANK YOU: horror, religious content, child-like subjects (i.e., dolls, kids playing, toys, etc.), people-type ATCs (i.e., movie stars, vintage folks, kids, etc.), holiday themes (unless specifically the swap requirement), stickers with a white outline (YUK!), Disney (I like many movies, but don't collect), patriotic themes, superheroes, cutesy things (i.e., teddy bears, dolls, gnomes, etc.), paper doll & vintage people images, scents - please NO PERFUME on envelopes small bits of paper "extras" - please, nothing smaller than ATC size. STOP with the teeny tiny punchs.
I usually prep for a swap in advance to make sure I have whatever on hand then if I have time I like to look at your profile and personalize it. I love delightful surprises in the mail and seek to provide you a little moment of happy in your day.
