A few things about me:
I want to do a million things but it feels like I get nothing done. My friends say I should just concentrate on the few things that make me happy. So that's what I'm trying to do, stop getting side-tracked and focus on what's important to me.
I work full time as hospital admin and I do videography (mostly weddings) on the side. During busy periods, I spend my weeknights and weekends in front of the computer editing videos. Of course, I get distracted by the world wide web often!
I am a media student on hold. I have deferred for a couple of years to save some money. At the moment I am dibble dabbling in different parts of media production to figure out my interests. Producing animation is something that appeals to me and I hope to be able to do a short course in the near future.
Most of my money seems to go towards camera gear these days, but when I travel to Asia, I spend a lot on stationery and plush toys. The thing is, looking at these things make me happy but I am of the mentality that they are too precious to be used :p
One skill I really admire is the ability to draw. I participate in doodle challenges on Instagram to push myself to practise. I still can't draw but I get a lot of satisfaction out of completing those challenges. I love reading short comics and memes. I find it so cool that people are able to convey so much in such simple drawings.
I do not like to exercise but I love experiencing the great outdoors. That may sound like a contradiction, but what I mean is, I enjoy being active but only if there's an adventure involved. I dislike exercising for the sake of exercising so repetitive activities don't appeal to me. However, I am happy to set an alarm to wake up at 4am to catch the sunrise or get an early start with a hike. There was a period where I organised a hike every weekend. Sadly, this only lasted for a few months before my workload increased and it became too stressful. Instead, I organise a hike or camping trip whenever we have a long weekend (which isn't often!). Hoping to ease back into the hiking trips!
I've never been super artsy crafty but I always enjoyed it when I was in school. As an adult, I try to give personalised birthday and wedding cards but that's as far as it goes. I hand made DVD cases for a videography client once. It was really fun and reminded me how much I enjoyed being hands on. I really hope I can get back into arts & crafts by joining this swap community.
What I like:
Generally speaking, the cutesy, bright coloured stuff. I like coloured pens, stickers and washi tape. I'm a collector of Hello Kitty, Totoro and turtle plush toys/keyrings and I adore simplistic drawings with motivational or skeptical commentary. I also love depictions of the great outdoors and cityscapes.
I'm not a fan of...
Punk/grunge, skulls, creepy crawlies, animal skin patterns.
