I am a little punk rock, a LOT dorky.
I've been accused of being a hockey evangelist (it's true!), I have a mad crush on Abraham Lincoln and the Seattle Public Library. I love to collect interesting rocks from places I visit (hence the bowls of rocks all over my apartment), I like to push the limit on how many patterns can truly co-exist in relative harmony in one living space (red poppy curtains, leopard print&jacquard pillows) and am having a passionate affair with the color red.
My absolute favorite craft is collage. I use mixed media like felt/fabric, natural found objects, cardboard, newspaper, paper media in other languages, paperbags, duct tape, and clippings from magazines. There is no end to what you can collage with! I'm always on the look out for interesting papers, images, fonts, and so forth.
I'm a nurse and though I like my job there isn't enough creativity in it so here I am! Ready to craft, embellish, and be inspired by fellow crafter/swappers. Thank you to all my swap buddies! Your time and creativity is appreciated!
Farenheit 451 is bleak but fantastic! I cannot say enough about The Big Over Easy by Jasper Fforde, Assassination Vacation by Sarah Vowell, World War Z by Max Brookes (though I dreamed about zombies for weeks!) and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. All great, all VERY different.
I listen to most everything from hip hop to classical to old skool R&B to country, the exception being jazz. The Decemberists are a favorite, along with At The Drive In, TV On The Radio, Beastie Boys and Menomena. Others include the Klaxons, the Black Angels, and Rocky Votolato.
Please do:
use glitter and sparkles with abandon. Sparkles = good.
be creative, not perfect. That is what art, and swapping, is all about.
send black licorice! YUM. Especially if there are any international swappers out there. I heart it!
plaids are a plus.
Stars are my favorite shape.
A current favorite is birds, mostly ravens but I am really enjoying Swan Papel's Red Bird & Bluebird - great prints! Cut outs or images along those lines will always be appreciated.
Anthropologie is one of my favorite mainstream stores, such wonderful stuff. I often think: "I could make that!" but don't get around to it :)
Gray is a favorite color right now as well, in just about everything: candleholders, purses, clothes. shoes...
I like wacky anime things, stickers, stationary and the like. Chococat is okay, Deerie Lou is great, Hello Kitty is so-so...
Coffee, yes please! The darker the better. And hot cocoa. And dark chocolate too.
I'd rather you didn't:
NO NO NO clowns or clown related items PLEASE. They just freak me out.
no patchouli scented things please.
send candleholders. I've got so many that my apartment is a fire hazard, haha.
send Disney, Pooh, Peanuts or things "cutsie" like that.
send items with religious overtones. I respect that everyone has a right to their beliefs; please respect mine as well.
