Hi everyone, I'm Josie. I'm a semi-retired geotechnical engineer but more importantly a mother of two. I have a nine year old boy and a beautiful 7 year old girl I lost to cancer 3 years ago.
I live in Canada. About 50 km east of Vancouver, along the mighty Fraser River. It has one of the highest number of golf courses per capita. But the biggest claim to fame are the blueberry farms.
I'm also very passionate of my two dogs. Katie a 17 year old Jack Russell and Dice our 2 yr old Poodle/chihuahua (Chi-doodle)
I'm a self proclaimed "closet" scrapbooker. Engineering and scrapbooking usually don't mix.
Scrapbooking continues to help me celebrate my daughter's life and at times talk with her through my journals. But it's personal to me, so I do not like to share / display my pages.
I've recently started with twinchies, zentangles, and mixed media creations.
I'm nearing 50 yrs old...which means I love my 80s music...but mainly alternative : The Smiths, The Police, The Clash, Talking Heads, Talk Talk, New Order and The Cult. I also grew up with two older siblings thus the love for David Bowie and Pink Floyd.
I love anything old / antique. Any trinket that may have had a unique life. I'm a collector of old scientific ads or illustrations. If they're good enough, they are proudly displayed and framed.
I also collect antique maps.
In no particular order: Vintage (prints, ads, journals) Mermaids, the ocean, snow peak mountains, caves, dogs, children laughing, old couples holding hands, animals showing true affection, strong bold coffee, unsweetened chai tea, JD Salinger writings, parachutes in flight, full moons, art / crafts on canvas, mixed media, science documentaries, large exotic fish tanks, butterflies, trees,
I love earthy tone colours(greens, browns, oranges), black & whites (greys). No pastel or primary colours please.
In no particular order: popular reality tv, game shows, romance novels, crime tv, medical dramas, soap operas, stuffed animals, cute dolls, nothing too girly,(puffy frilly or lacey)
I do not like anime (especially the big eyes ones), or anything cute depicting animals, children, pets etc.
Please no stickers, non-vintage postcards, stuffed animals, foam stamps, cute items
I've traveled the world extensively (work / play) and most recently returned to scuba diving with my husband. Perhaps it's our way of finding our "lost mermaid". Our daughter loved the sea and always stated she would return to the sea.
I've always been an extremest when it came to activities: ski diving, rock climbing, skiing, white water kayaking and scuba diving. Of course nearing my 50s has finally slowed me down...thus the golfing, hiking and tennis.
