Crafty mother of one beautiful daughter and another baby on the way and I am married to wonderful man . I am psychotherapist by trade using hypnotherapy and am especially interested in the areas of birth , depression and anxiety. Therapy is a very creative process but not very tactile which is why I love making things . I started to make things in earnest after my little girl was born and have loved every second. 'If i need something I will try to make it , if I can't make it I will try to get it secondhand if I can't get it secondhand I will then buy it as simply and fairly as possibly' - this philosophy has changed my life. I have only been in one swap and that was the cupcake / freshly blended 2007 Christmas ornament swap - it was amazing! I am in the (slow) process of setting up a blog and am going to put photos of my goodies and inspiration on there. I collect vintage buttons ( but not military or insignia please) and fabrics and other associated bits and bobs , paper , ribbons , threads and anything to do with sewing, knitting and crochet etc. I love to reuse/recycle things into something else and believe in a slower, more natural and gentle way of life! I am not religious in the usual sense however I feel a connection to mother nature and Buddha .
I LIKE: sewing- hand and machine ,cooking, nature, walking, maps, books, recycling, reusing, making, vintage style , retro, modern, kitch, cute, cool, car boot sales - the best bargains can be had, charity shops, vintage cats, cute kids, russian dolls, felt, keeping chickens, growing our own fruit and vegetables, herbal teas, alternative ideas, flowers, waldorf dolls, good design- classic styles from any decade or era really. Myriad online toy shop, hand made things of any description as long as thought and love have gone onto them. Blogs I love to browse include: Molly chicken, London Mummy, Angry Chicken, Sew Mamma Sew, Montessori By Hand, Ragged Roses and too many more to mention! I subscribe to The Mother Magazine and the Green Parent which are a must for anyone into natural life!. I am learning how to make all my own creams etc as I don't like most store bought cosmetics and toileteries, I love teas, real chocolate but not sweets, ric rac, gingham, ribbon, sewing floss and thread, beads, I love things that are truly handmade best of all! I am trying to learn how to knit and my next desires are to learn how to crochet and quilt, weave and make paper! There just aren't enough hours in the day!
Things I do not really like: Victorianesque over fussy style, consumerism, Disney and the like, over use of plastic, violence , thoughtlessness, corporate anythings..... incense, ATC-cards, anything too tacky - too pink or with glitter on it... , sentiments other than 'love' plastered all over things.
