Hi friends - I have to take a little break from swapping to make art for fall shows. I wish I could do it all, but I might spend a little too much time on my ATCs ;} Best, Deb
I love swapping... it helps keep my creativity flowing and gives me a sense of accomplishment... "Yay, I finished a project!" I am interested in swapping ATCs and jewelry mainly. I am an artist and a SAHM. I volunteer lots, mainly doing anything art-related at my kids' school, so I'm not home as often as I'd like. I have a 9 year old boy and a 7 year old girl, 2 cats, 4 chickens, 1 dog, and an amazing husband who supports us all.
I make jewelry- my current obsession - beads: pressed glass, seed beads, gemstones like tigereye, amazonite, citrine; mixed metals: copper brass and steel. I don't think it has to be gold or sterling as long as it is made with excellent craftsmanship. I will use plastic beads and found objects too. I also sew, paint, papercraft- cards, ATCs, make miniatures, embroider. I am looking forward to altering some clothing and making 18 inch doll clothes. I do a lot of crafts and love to combine techniques and materials, but I am also a bit of a perfectionist - I do French seams on doll clothing
I love pink - all shades- the pale pink of heirloom roses to the fushia streak in my hair. But green, blue, all shades of brown and copper are great too. I love all things French- fleur-de-lys, roosters, bees, Paris, Provence. I love romantic vintage styles - Victorian to 1950s. I love Halloween - but not cutesy - romantic, spooky and Goth. Fine art and Somerset/type art inspires me. Vintage Asian art and some retro stuff is cool too, but cartoony stuff- no way. Garden-related stuff, nature, birds, butterflies, roses are wonderful too.
I listen to lots of music: country, classical, standards, soft rock, some mellower punk/alternative stuff. I can no longer handle music that feels "violent" like the heavy metal and rap that I enjoyed in my teens and twenties. My faves are female vocals: Melissa Etheridge, Tori Amos, Bette Midler, love Sting, Harry Connick Jr., Indigo Girls, Dixie Chicks.
All-time favorite movies: Practical Magic- for visuals and the sister theme, Matrix, Miyazaki, my hubby and I both love apocalytic movies and superhero stuff.
Authors: Sherri Tepper, Anne Rice, Laurell K. Hamilton, Stephanie Meyer ....Okay! I admit it I have a thing for vampires
TV: Lost, Heroes, Gray's Anatomy, Reaper, Dollhouse. I still miss Buffy and Charmed.
Well, I have many philosophies and theories, but the ones most relevant to swap-bot are...
If I'm going to do anything, I give it my all and do my best work.
If I've clicked SEND, it means I have already taken my swap to the post office. Please contact me if you don't receive it and I'll send another if possible - or show you a photo.
I will rate as soon as I receive your items. If you don't receive a rating, I probably didn't get your swap.
