Hello! My name is Emma and I live in the Washington, D.C. area. I've lived here all my life, but spent some time in Iowa for college and in Vladimir, Russia for study abroad.
I have my master's in Library & Information Science, and am passionate about information access, especially for underserved populations! As such, I'm really into any swap that points me toward new knowledge or learning resources. There's nothing better than learning new things.
I live in a little apartment with my husband Nate, who is an ethnomusicologist, our two cats Abelard and Heloise, and our little mutt Hattie (some Australian Shepherd, some Pekingese, some Chihuahua, some Australian Cattle Dog), who can be a handful but is so, so sweet.
I used to speak both Russian and Spanish pretty well, but my vocabulary has gotten pretty rusty (although my grammar is still weirdly spot-on). I'd love to practice either language with someone!
A few interests: I like poetry, paleoanthropology, origami, weird thrift store finds, stationery supplies, pens, & Bullet Journal materials! And more things probably.
Talking Heads, Leonard Cohen, Warren Zevon, John Prine, Phil Ochs, Al Stewart, musical theatre.
The Once and Future King, Pale Fire, the Tana French Dublin Murder Squad series, non-fiction about horrific weather-related disasters.
Singin' in the Rain, Wet Hot American Summer.
Buffy, Mad Men, Gossip Girl, Veronica Mars.
Origami, calligraphy. Some occasional drawing and watercolor. Trying to learn how to make beautiful mail art!
