I'm a crafty girl who lives in the Dallas area. I'm particularly interested in jewelry and playing with string in a variety of contexts. My other hobbies include reading and playing WoW.
I'm Pagan, and a UU and have a general fascination with world religions, particularly the more mystical aspects (Tibetan Buddhism, Sufism, Gnosticism)
Hmm. I love things with depth, a lot of texture, rich colors- think Venice/Carnivale, Moroccan bazaar, caravan/silk road, that sort of thing. I'm especially fascinated with brocades and silks and interesting surface design.
I don't really do stickers right now but I love beads, yarn, paper, trims, interesting buttons. Postcards are nice. I love collage and all kinds of paper crafts.
I read a lot of fantasy and some scifi- especially anthropological scifi (A Woman of the Iron People and some of Ursula K LeGuin's stuff come to mind). I am also interested in urban fantasy and mythopoetic sorts of things. Bordertown was one of my first loves. Some of the other authors I enjoy include Mercedes Lackey, Elizabeth Moon, Robert Heinlein, and Sheri Tepper.
I make a lot of jewelry and particularly enjoy dangly beads and charms. My jewelry often has a vaguely fae aesthetic and I like experimenting with ways to incorporate natural materials and organic shapes.
I enjoy paper crafts- paper beads, collage, card making and am starting to toy with the idea of book binding. I've also just started stamping and am starting to collect clear stamps. In addition I enjoy sketching (particularly ink pen- I like the discipline of not being able to erase) and paint a little, mostly watercolor.
I also like to play with fiber and yarn. I felt, I spin with a drop spindle, and I knit (sometimes, when I have the patience). I particularly like funky fibers, odd colors, and am currently fascinated with recycled sari silk.
Generally: Folk, filk, Celtic, Pagan, kirtan (Hindu devotional chants)
Specifically: Loreena McKennitt, Enya, AfroCelt Soundsystem, Simon and Garfunkel, Don McClean, Heather Alexander, Leslie Fish, SJ Tucker, Gaia Consort, Krishna Das
