I was born in South Korea, raised in Idaho, and have lived in Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin as an adult. My day job is in market research (primarily chemicals). In my free time, I'm a huge sci-fi and fantasy nerd and am willing to try almost any book in those genres, and I'm always on the lookout for a recommendation!
I'm also interested in geology, natural history, the environment, science, politics, social and racial issues, health, musical theater, outdoor activities, and most types of arts and crafts.
Too many to count!!
So far, my favorites that I've read in 2018 include: Foundryside, by Robert Jackson Bennett Circe, by Madeline Miller The Poppy War, by RF Kuang Spinning Silver, by Naomi Novik All You Can Ever Know, by Nicole Chung Fantasyland: How America Went Haywire, by Kurt Andersen
A selection of other favorites include: Lord of the Rings, by JRR Tolkien Wartership Down, by Richard Adams Uprooted, by Naomi Novik Mr. Penumbra's 24-House Bookstore, by Robin Sloane The Mistborn series, by Brandon Sanderson The Farseer series, by Robin Hobb The Imperial Radch trilogy (Ancillary Justice etc) by Ann Leckie His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman The Rook, by Daniel O'Malley Anathem, by Neal Stephenson Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen Dune, by Frank Herbert The Foundation series, by Isaac Asimov
Knitting -- I can knit most anything at this point, although I really dislike Fair Isle and most colorwork (intarsia is okay)
Papercrafts -- mostly papercutting and quilling
Drawing & Painting -- I used to be so much better than I am now! I've really fallen out of practice. But I really enjoy working with pencils, chalk pastels, and watercolor.
