I'm 36 years old, am a stay at home mother of two wonderful and wild little boys (4 and 2 years old), and have an adoring husband. I enjoy being outside, planting and looking at pretty flowers, growing vegetables, cooking, playing with my kids and husband, running, hiking, singing, birdwatching, camping and traveling.
I like to live simply by dressing simply and and eating simply. I generally wear t-shirts anh jeans or shorts, dressing up infrequently. I generally don't wear make-up or jewelry.
I love bright colors and warm sunshine. My yard and house are accented by vivid colors. I love my bright orange cloth napkins!
THINGS I DON'T CARE FOR: Processed sugar.... Well, actually I love it, a little too much. I admit that I'm a sugar addict. I'm hypoglycemic, so sugar is really bad for me. When I eat it, my blood sugar crash an hour or two later, then I get very moody and unpleasant to be around. I feel really cruddy when I eat it. Please don't send me sugar. I'm trying to stay away from it and trying to rid my house of it. When I crave something sweet, I'll eat a piece of fruit instead. I'm trying to eat a healthier diet, so I'll feel better. I believe the fake sugars, i.e. sugar replacements are far unhealthier, so they aren't good either. In general I try to eat whole grains, fresh, local fruits and veggies, and meats and eggs from farm raised, grass-fed locally grown animals.
I'm kindof in a music lull right now, but my all-time favorite is still the Indigo Girls whose music is so fun to sing to with all the harmonies in it.
Animal, Vegetable, Miracle -- A Year of Food Life by Barbara Kingsolver with Steven L. Hopp and Camille Kingsolver. This book changed my world view and that of my husband. We currently live in the city, but after hearing Barbara Kingsolver read from her book and talk about her experiences, and after reading her book ourselves, we now want to move out to the country and grow our own food. In the meantime, we have already started getting our food from local farmers. We believe it is healthier for our bodies, for our souls, and for the planet (than buying food from a grocery store that has been shipped across the country or across the globe). The book is great and I highly recommend it to everyone.
Good Eats and 30-minute Meals on Food Network, though I watch tv rarely.
I'm new to sewing, and have made halloween costumes and pajamas for everyone in the family. I'm currently working on summer skirts for me.
