Hi, I'm Sheila. I'm out in the middle of nowhere in Illinois. Our family is my hubby and me, two boys 7 & 10, a kitty and a dog. We live on five acres where we garden, keep chickens, and try to be green as much as possible. I'm a stay at home mom and blogger.
I like jazz and bedsit music with a dash of bluegrass and alternative. I collect foreign currency, antique children's books and vintage sewing notions. I'm big in to nature photography and an avid naturalist. I consider myself a foody, too.
I love Egyptology and ancient history.
I love to crochet and can't live without paper crafts. I scrapbook, but in an unconventional way. I'm more in to repurposing cool stuff and using vintage goodies to make something for the home. I've got it bad for old ribbon, lace, buttons, bling, beads, fabric, embroidery patterns and floss. I'm big in to paper engineering and popups. I make my own jewelry and accessories. I love little things to embellish with.
I craft most every day and it's very important to me.
I love Big Bang Theory, House, Mystery!, Antiques Roadshow, How I Met Your Mother, Bones, Jane Austin, Dr. Who, Little Britain, Catherine Tate, Graham Norton Show, and Lie To Me. My hubby makes me watch American Idol but I hate game shows and reality shows. I watch food network, bbc america, and pbs almost exclusively.
I love silly mysteries like the cookie series, tea series, and scrapbook mysteries. I love Amelia Peabody mysteries, too. I usually only read in the Winter, there's too much to do the rest of the year. I don't buy magazines very often because I feel like it's a waste of paper. I like Martha Stewart holiday issues and I subscribe to National Geographic. I'm always interested in vintage craft books and magazines like workbasket.
I have a warped, juvenile sense of humor and love movies like Dumb and Dumber and Tropic Thunder. Basically, if a 12 year old boy would think it's funny then it's a movie for me. I also like thoughtful movies like Love Actually and Stranger than Fiction. I enjoy the National Treasure movies and Night at the Museum.
Bright colors and bold patterns, layered designs, nature colors and textures, especially cobalt blue, turquoise, burnt orange, brown, green, yellow together. I love vintage and retro patterns and colors from the 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's.
Seeds (including wildcrafted), gardening stuff, stuff from nature like bugs, leaves and rocks.
Wrapping paper, really old calendars and sheet music - things that are time capsules.
I love of all sorts of vintage notions like buttons, snaps, fabric, ribbon and trim and sewing tools.
I love international food items like spices, tea, coffee and jam. I cook Indian, Spanish, Thai food on a regular basis. We do bento boxes for lunch and I'm always wanting more things for that.
I love homemade and specialty soaps and lotions.
I love all strange little things and found items including anything bird or butterfly or nature.
I like home made jewelry (earrings and necklaces) and crocheted items like tea towels, doilies, scarves, lace.
I'm really into vintage bubble gum machine toys and want fish and animals for craft projects. I love saint statues and kawaii, but I'm more in to function then form.
I like owls, butterflies, mushrooms, deer, flowers, cabbage roses, and birds.
I like stickers. I always want letter stickers and shape stickers. I like all felt and diecut shapes, too. I love rubber stamps both mounted and unmounted.
Scrapbooking stuff, punched shapes like circles, things from walmart or other chain stores unless it's different, postage stamps, inchies, bath salts, super sweet scented items, camouflage, sports, disney, or religious stuff than saints.
I have two boys 7 and 10. They like a lot of the same stuff I do but they also like Japanese Anime, Menga, Pokemon, drawing, sculpture with clay or sculpey, stuffed animals, and legos. They cook, garden, and craft with me. They are interested in pen pals, especially international ones.
