Synopsis: Former homeschool mom, married, Realtor, lover of words and books, Texas Master Naturalist, Daughter of the Republic of Texas, OES, paradoxically a lover of home and travel.
Details: Married for 23 years to first love. I have one DD, and homeschooled her through 7th grade. She is now at Concordia University.
I am now (for the past 10 years) a real estate broker and a mortgage broker, after many years in accounting. My DH & I own the company.
I love to read: approx. 3 books per month, ranging from classics (Austen, Dickens, etc) to biographies to science to history to childrens. I rotate through the years, and each year read either all of Austen, or all of Lucy Maud Montgomery, or all of Laura Ingalls Wilder (including both her books and her Ruralist articles). That's in addition to the other 3-4 each month. My newest favorite science writer is Mary Roach, although my all time favorite is still David Quammen. I think Ben Franklin's autobiography should be required reading before graduation from high school. And I still love children's books and read them often.
I'm a Texas Master Naturalist, which means I've completed training in the program by TPWD and am now certified in native flora & fauna, and volunteer in various parks in the area.
I'm a Daughter of the Republic of Texas, which means my ancestors have been here since Texas was a Republic. I have several Texas Rangers and calvarymen in my ancestry.
My idea of the perfect home would be a small self-sufficient farm, which I would never have to leave if I didn't want to - and I probably wouldn't want to very much. But on the other hand, I love to travel and have a list of places to go.

Thankyou =)
The afore-mentioned blog post, which ended up being longer than expected. Thank you again. :)
Teresa. Thank you SO much for the wonderful package you sent! I was so surprised and so touched that you would send me something. It truly, truly wasn't necessary, but it is truly, truly appreciated. I took photos and am going to share this on my blog, too, so will come back with a link when it's up! Thank you again...I'm so glad that such happiness came out of that experience for both of us!
I'm so happy your Little House stocking finally made it to you! (Two and a half weeks....goodness, USPS. Tsk, tsk.) I'm glad you're enjoying the contents, and to be honest, because I know you love Laura so much, it was a pleasure for me to put together the stocking for you as well.
Let me know if you have ideas for additional Little House swaps. Since we have so many fans in our group, I think we should probably do something fairly regularly. I think towards the end of the year it'd be fun to do a handmade Charlotte doll swap...!
Hi Teresa,
Thanks for your message this morning, and for doing everything I asked so quickly.
Just wanted to let you know I've just gotten back from mailing off your angeled stocking, so hopefully you should receive it very soon. (I'm in Los Angeles.) Merry Christmas!
Mimi
hello from the comment swap. :D you have some very interesting facts on your profile :] That is really neat that you are a daughter of the republic. I wish that I could trace my ancestry quite far. It's always nice to know where you came from ;] and chickens? why, I love them too! I have always had a fascination with chickens since I was little. And I love to read as well. :] I'm glad to see someone who likes to stay literate :D

Hello, I have a great time reading your profile. It really make me thinks I know you and give some connection. I think that you are a person who appreciate nature and simple life. Im impressed that you homeschooled your child. Must be a proud mom seeing your daughter success.
I hope you can achieve your dream of having a self sufficient farm. I do think the best food is the one homegrown. Cooking fresh food from the garden... best for the family!
Have a great day ahead!

I noticed that you love to travel. Are you one of those I-won't-travel-overseas-until-I-see-my-own-country-first types, or do you consider the world as being a book, with the different places to go the pages?
By the way, Irish and Scottish ancestry is the best ancestry to have... I'm of both myself, as well as English.
You also mention in your profile that you like any Austen novel movies. I know this movie isn't from one of her novels but rather about her novels, but have you seen The Jane Austen Book Club? If not, I strongly recommend you see it if you're an Austen fan! It's wonderful. :)
Welcome to the Hundred Acre Wood! So so happy you've joined us. :)
