When I was eight years old my parents gave me a toy sewing machine for my birthday and so it began. My love of sewing grew from that first teal corduroy jacket with matching pants I made in the second grade. I expanded on my sewing enthusiasm by taking up knitting and crochet. By the time I was a young adult Quilting had my attention along with decorative painting. I was hooked on just about every aspect of crafting including stamping and paper crafts. In short I love most crafts and suffer from an insatiable appetite for more. I love the concept of sharing my beautiful creations with like-minded people who can appreciated the work and dedication needed to make something spectacular. Don't get me wrong, I still prefer to make something for a loved one, time willing, rather than pick up something at the store. Having that personalized element goes along way and in my opinion hand made is better than store bought because that creativity shines through. In conclusion I have my mother to thank for spawning that creative spark in my soul, her patience and guidance allowed me to learn skills I never would have imagined possible. Thank you Mom!
I was born in England many years ago and immigrated to Canada as a very young child. Ten or so years later our family immigrated to the US and I became a naturalized citizen 10 years after that. I’m married 25 years with four grown children and 5 grandchildren. I have a 60 lb. pit bull called Nala who thinks she’s a lap dog. Her nickname is girlie wirlie. I love to garden and enjoy collecting flowering plants for my garden. My wish is to have enough flowers throughout the season to cut and enjoy inside my house.
My favorite books to read are usually murder mystery’s or psychological thrillers. I have a large collection of craft books as well that I use to inspire new ideas and make old favorites. I love books and spending time in a small book store is by far one of my favorite things to do. I frequent the local library quite often picking up novels to read and enjoy. Those books that grab you right from the start that you can’t put down are the ones I just can’t get enough of. A few recent ones that comes to mind is “The Girl On The Train” or “Since We Fell”, “Camino Island” was another one. “”Into The Water” and The Pairis Wife” where also good.
Johnny Cash is my latest favorite because it is my youngest grandson’s favorite. He’s only 18 months old, go figure....anyway every time I put that CD on we dance and clap and giggle. Other favorites are Rolling Stones. Lenny Kravitz, Aerosmith, Freddy Mercury, Tower of Power. BB King and Joe Cocker
I’m not much for watching TV except Survivor. I could never miss an airing of any season and will probably cry if they decide to cancel. I also watch a lot of sports, Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins.
James Bond fan here and also Mission Impossible. Oceans Eleven and The Brinks Job to name a few. Some of my favorite actors are Tom Cruise, Denzel Washington and Adam Sandler. I will always make a point of seeing any movie that is filmed in Boston because I think it’s cool to see land marks in a movie that you see frequently in your own life.
