My vocation is occupational safety which has little relevance here. My avocation which brings me to ATC swaps is art photography (Polaroid transfers, emulsion lifts, painted photos) and a specific type of paper and ink art which I call "Illuminated Visions." I'll be setting up a website at www.illuminatedVisions.us before the end of 2007 so that interested folks may see my portfolio.
More about me: I work out of Richmond, Virginia, US and live west of town "in the country." Yes, on a farm with my partner, our 6 and sometimes more cats, two dogs, chickens, geese, Oberon the peacock (that’s his photo which I use as my icon). Our horses are located elsewhere until the big barn materializes. We grown a kitchen garden and make wine out of fruits and flowers. All of the above are subjects of my photography and art.
I love to travel - across borders and just down the road. Sometimes I think I want to be a gypsy with a scarlet caravan and black horse. Yet I'm also a homebody, happy to be part of the Farm Girl Movement (see www.maryjanesfarm.org).
I'm a Hedge Witch and practice practical magic. I cheris the found object whose hidden purpose will be revealed. If it glitters or is especially odd or pretty it goes into my art basket otherwise it goes on a shelf or in the shed. Hardly anything goes to waste on a farm.
I love reading about and looking at old photos and memorabilia of by-gone days – Victorian era through the 50’s currently has my attention. The 1980’s just make me groan.
I read a lot, listen to National Public Radio, watch very little TV but when I do its recorded mysteries, BBC or travel/National Geographic shows (blessing to the Goddess TIVO). And, I spin, knit, do a little embroidery, or pet the cats when my hands are not otherwise occupied.
Colors I love? All jeweled toned colors as well as that end of the spectrum electric blue-violet; and of course, basic black.
