I'm a jeweler by trade, crafter of crafts, teacher of metalsmithing, mentor to many, arts business consultant to those who need advice, small object photographer and instructor, team leader for etsyRAIN.com (the Seattle Etsy Team) who also blogs and happily spends much too much time on the computer. :)
I love japanese craft books, anything with a "how to" premise, anything craft related and books on improving small business. I guess I'm just always on the lookout for something new to learn and try!
Okay. Here is where I get down to the things I LOVE! :) My first love is jewelry making. I've been making hand-fabricated sterling silver for over 20 years. I still love it. A lot. I have my own studio outside of my home and enjoy every moment there.
Next, I love to sew. I took it back up a few years ago and have since created a sewing / craft room to house my beloved Juki TL98Q quilting sewing machine and my tons of recycled and repurposed fabrics! (though I love japanese / kawaii fabrics too)
I also knit and crochet just a little bit. I'm not good at following patterns so most of my projects consist of dishcloths and scarves :)
I enjoy working with polymer clay on occasion to create the little 3-dimensional ideas I have in my head that can't be created any other way than sculpting.
I have an affinity for watercolor - specifically sumi-e (japanese watercolor), though I'm hoping to get into painting more with acrylics sometime soon.
Most of all: I love GADGETS! Any kind of gadget that is supposed to make things better, easier and/or faster is right up my alley. I own so many tools and gadgets and thing-a-ma-jigs for so many different crafts...and I love them all.
