I was introduced to swap-bot by a friend. I'm a married mother of 2 and a student and spend a lot of time studying data that is a little on the dry side, so I'm looking for a way to keep my artist's soul alive. I'm hoping swap-bot will be it. I'm a very amateur artist with lots of interests who hopes to dabble in several media here. Postcard swaps sound fun as I have always collected postcards--now I can put them to good use!
My life: I have two children in elementary school. I live in Madison, WI, which is where I went to college. After college I lived in the Phoenix AZ area for 5 years, but after my eldest was born we decided to come back to Madison. I have several pets: a cat, tropical fish, and 4 chickens. Raising chickens has been a fun experiment and we are enjoying getting some fresh eggs.
Series I like: Sherlock, True Blood, The Mindy Project, The Office (both original and US version), Community, The Daily Show, Kingdom, The Inbetweeners. House of Cards, Portlandia, Orange is the New Black...I do most of my TV watching on my computer either via Hulu or Netflix. Thus it's an odd list.
I am a real dabbler. I like sewing (though I'm barely a beginner), embroidery, knitting, crochet, and drawing.
After looking through some of the swaps I thought this might be useful.
I am a vegetarian.
I am a tea lover, especially green tea, and I am always interested in trying new types. I also would love to get some Assam tea, which is hard to find around here for some reason. Any tea will do, really, except Lipton's. That stuff is just not drinkable IMHO.
I used to work in a library, so I like all kinds of books! I miss seeing all the new things come in and getting recommendations from the library patrons.
Authors I like: Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, China Mieville, Charlaine Harris, Susanna Clarke, Deborah Harkness, Alan Bradley, Kelly Link, Charles DeLint
I like mysteries and fantasy, but I'm a picky reader.
Something unique from your country--especially teas, candies, stationery and postcards.
I like fabric and fiber crafts, so anything handmade in those media I would enjoy.
I love mixed media art though I don't produce much myself.
In postcards, I like artistic animal cards (not cutesy photos of animals), art cards in general, holiday themes, folk festivals, folklore, travel, city scenes, scenic....no erotic please.
I like cutesy stickers and stationery (Hello Kitty, Kawaii) up to a point.
I love and collect items with chickens on them, Day of the Dead and Mexican folk art, midcentury cookbooks...I'll add as I think of things.
