Hi, my name is Jill. I joined this group because my mom's cousins were doing it and it looked like so much fun. I didn't have any experience quilting but they believed I could do it so I decided to give it a try. I immediately found it was the most relaxing type of sewing for me and time just flies when I'm working on a block. I'm a little nervous about quilting the whole project though.
My favorite blocks are the ones that features something special in the middle like Addie and Aunt. I love it when people do fussy cutting (although I would never expect to receive a square like that) so those block seem to make fussy cutting one square so much easier. My favorite color is Red, Red, Red. I love prints that have children or youthful things on them. My favorite fabrics are from Riley Blake and I plan to do my quilt using Tasha Noel's "Vintage Market".
I am a mom of two young children. I am absolutely new to quilting. I started sewing about 3 years ago when my girls received 18" dolls from their grandparents for Christmas and I wanted to sew Disney dresses for the dolls. I have made some doll clothes, a few children's dresses and of course lots of easy projects like bags. I am self taught. I have a Viking Lily sewing machine that I absolutely love.
I also have a small business as a photographer. www.jillmartinphotography.com In college I got my degree in music and love to sing (I'm a soprano). I have found that music, photography and quilting all go quite nicely together all being arts.
I homeschool my two girls and we are always learning new things. For a while I did postcard exchanges on postcrossing.com. I love anything educational so that I can teach my girls as much as possible. I love books, the library and I love to learn.
I have a blog but I don't add to it anymore. I really just started it to have my story of survival on the internet for other women who are going through placenta accrete or who had to have an emergency C-Section after giving birth.
