What I Love: Writing, Language, Feminism & Gender Studies, Poetry, Cultural Studies, Botany, Rivers, Grasses, Birds, Geography, Maps, Camping, Baking, Listmaking, Crafts, DIY, & My hometown of Austin,TX!
Andrew Bird, Neko Case, Patty Griffin, The Jayhawks, Cowboy Junkies, Suzanna Choffel, Coco Rosie, Feist, other experimental folky-type stuff
But also anything cheesey & old-school, or rad and new: old country, anything groovy, lots of hip hop... the musical part of me is a little bit Texas, a little bit weirdo, a little bit Mos Def's girlfriend.
Printing Arts + Letterpress, Papermaking, Mail Art, Stamp-making, Knitting, Embroidery, Collage, Improving my handwriting...
Charlie Kaufman's, Douglas Sirk's, Sofia Coppola's films... Also, of course, a very special place in my heart for the Princess Bride.
Recently? Waitress was right-on. And I really liked Stranger Than Fiction because it had such a good ending. I'm picky about endings.
Too hard to decide and always changing, but the last book that blew me away was Michael Ondaatje's The English Patient. Right now I'm reading Catch-22 for the first time.
Mostly I read poetry - experimental stuff by contemporary poets.
I also love children's lit and collect children's books. Huge fan of Wind in the Willows, The Little Prince, The Secret Garden, Peter Pan (the book).
Small noisy dogs (though I love animals in general), the flavor of licorice, the color teal, nationalist/patriotic junk, knick-knacks, anything that exploits people.
