I adore anything handmade or made with love. I'm excited to join the community here! Surprise me :)
I'm in my 30s and am oh so lucky to have the people (and pug!) that I have in my life.
My name is based on "mystery science theater 3000", if you know what that even is we will probably get along great.
I'm an advocate for open minds and a believer in love and compassion. I like to listen (well, read) and learn about others. What are your favorite things? What do you find yourself daydreaming or wondering about? What are the most valuable things you have ever learned? What are your struggles? What are your accomplishments?
I love everything NYC - my husband and I eloped there because I wanted to get married somewhere 'popular' so I'd be reminded of my wedding day watching TV, movies, etc.
I'm lucky enough to have a post office in the building I work in and a mailbox down the street from my house... needless to say if I click that I've sent something, it's been sent and I'm also happy to resend since it's so easy for me to do so.
However mail from Canada can be pretty slow, it looks like it takes a minimum of 10 calendar days to get out of the great white north and to wherever you live, even longer if you're not in North America. Canada Post doesn't pick up or deliver on Saturdays, either...which adds to the delivery time. So I'm not slow to rate, I probably haven't received it yet!
So if you're expecting something in the mail from me and it hasn't shown up (or you haven't received a rating), please have a little patience and send me a note. I'll make it right! :)
I do have an Honours BA in English Literature and Professional Writing....I was mostly interested in technical writing (which is now my profession).
So while my peers were engulfed in poetry and prose I was reading instruction manuals for toasters and taking notes.
The last book I read - the instructions for a radio console I picked up at a garage sale! lol
I'm an avid collector... of nothing in particular. I live for thrift stores and rummage sales and curbside "junk". Anything that captures my attention and curiosity is welcome in my home.
And no china cabinets here. Everything I have I use for its intended purpose (or some kind of variation). My older relatives almost faint when I put Royal Doulton teacups in the dishwasher!
I have quite a few pyrex glass coffee carafes and interesting prints of pyrex/glass casseroles. When we bought a new house I splurged on a new, but vintage-looking fridge and stove that are both robin's egg blue with big chunky chrome handles. They're AMAZING.
I'm a newbie zinester.... let me know if you want to swap! I have no idea what I am doing yet, haha.
I really love small town features and landmarks. Is where you're from 'famous' for something? Is there a tale or legend that everyone in town knows? Send or draw me a pic or tell me the story! I would love to hear it.
Pictures, postcards, drawings, letters, blank note cards, old photographs, tea (decaf only, please!), recommendations (books, movies, music), old stamps (my husband is a collector!) Comics/pages from comics (my 3 year old son is in a superhero stage!), stationery, maps... anything old, unique, or cool!
Hockey - Winnipeg Jets Football - Buffalo Bills Baseball - Toronto Blue Jays
I'm a sucker for 90s nostalgia... send me pics of you in a bucket hat and a choker and let me know what your favourite movie soundtrack was (clueless, obvs)
Depending on the day (or even the hour, haha) my tastes and interests hop around.
My staples are: - Pavement - Ben Folds Five - the Long Winters - the Beatles - Chromeo - Wilco - They Might be Giants
I feel like mix cds/tapes/playlists are a really unique way to get to know someone. A few years ago my brother was hospitalized after an accident and I had to commute 90 minutes to the hospital to visit each day (for over 5 months). I asked friends to give me mix CDs for my daily drives and every one I received was so thoughtful and unique.
I had classical music, progressive rock, hip hop, country, indie, classic rock, top 40 pop...it was really a cool experience and appreciated during that difficult time.

Wow, thank you very much!! :) I received your response to the "image as a writing prompt swap" today. Not only that I love the story you wrote to the image (yay, finally Henry has a new home ;D), I also love the goodies you included! :) I always love new washi tapes (the ones you chose I'll definitely use :)) and the cute owl greeting card. And the bookmark is just beautiful! :) Thank you for everything, I loved this swap! :) Hope to be in a swap with you again the future!
"Awww!" I said aloud when I pulled your Christmas photocard from my mailbox. So thoughtful and sweet. Thank you!
Hey! I'm the first to leave a comment. Lucky me. =D Came by to say, keep fishing! Glad the postcard made it, and if its timing is any indication, you can expect to catch something more substantial in about a week! "Sea" you soon! (Hope you don't mind the occasional terrible pun...)
