UPDATE: Hello, lovely swappers. :0) As much as everything artistic that I do is good for my soul and piece of mind, I am taking a little break for the holidays. The break will last until sometime in late jan. or feb., as I will be having a much needed but major surgery on January 5th. I'm a bit nervous, but I do look forward to the day when I can at least sit up and put some pencil (snd glue, scissors, markers, etc) to paper again. I wish you all a lovely holiday.
I've added some notes about swapping with me at the bottom of my profile. :0)
Hello!!! whoever is interested enough to read this. Im Kim and I'm pretty much an art addict. Creating things has always been a big part of my life, and I believe a bit if talent runs in my family, for anyone willing to spend their time drawing, making, and creating. I live in the random weathered, yet pretty nice state of Louisiana. I grew up in northeastern PA, and still consider it home. A few years ago I managed to convince my mom to move here, so at least I now have some of my family here. I live with my husband and elementary school aged daughter, who is quite a character and very artistic herself.
I guess I'm a bit of a dork if you listen to some of my friends. If you get in my car after I've been in there alone, the music will be show tunes. That comes from being a theater major, I suppose. Of course I like more mainstream music too. Classic rock is probably my favorite genre. I also love alternative, pop, rock, blues... I'm not crazy about country or rap, but there are exceptions for both. Some if my favorite bands are Aerosmith, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, and Dave Matthews Band. I also love The Beatles, kiss, Led Zeppelin, the Eagles, and that sort of thing. But really anything that has a fun beat is good music. I don't dance, though. Sorry.
I've loved Stephen King ever since I was smart enough to sneak one of his books and a flashlight into my bedroom at night. Another favorite from growing up is the Flowers in the Attic saga. A bit of a guilty pleasure, surely. Some other go-to authors if mine are Amy Tan, Sue Monk Kidd, Pat Conroy, John Grisham, Thomas Harris, Anita Shreve.... A 'few' of my favorite books would be (oh boy, this should be long...) Bee Season, IT, The Shining, The Help, The Beach, Everything is Illuminated, i Know Thus Much Is True, A Thousand Splendid Suns, Jaws, Snow Falling On Cedars, Water For Elephants, The Secret Life of Bees, White Oleander, Gone With the Wind, Prince Of Tides, The Time Travelers Wife, The Bonesetters Daughter, The Color Purple, The Thorn Birds. I also grew up reading some books that I have to revisit once every few years.... To Kill a Mickingbird, Catcher in the Rye, Harriet the Spy, The Westing Game, Where The Red Fern Grows, The Whipping Boy, a Tree Grows In Brooklyn, a Wrinkle in Time, The Velveteen Rabbit, Ramona books and most things by Beverly Cleary, The Babysitters club, There's a Boy in The girls bathroom, The Giving Tree, anything Judy Blume. I grew up reading those things and they would probably be my favorite over adult books because in those pages is where I found my love of reading. I kinda liked Twilight, but not really the rest of the saga. Hunger Games was pretty good. Another guilty pleasure is true crime novels. If its a James Patterson love story, count me OUT. Same goes for Harlequin. And 50 shades? Um no. Sorry. Not even remotely interesting. Though I have tried all of those, I don't see their popularity.
The Shawshank Redemption, Dirty Dancing, The Princess Bride, any Disney movie, and I'm also quite partial to horror movies. I'll add more later, as my favorites are escaping me a bit.
The Walking Dead, American Horror Story, Major Crimes, Nashville, Grey's Anatomy, The Following, Justified, lots of shows that have been ended like Lost, Desparate Housewives, Saving Grace, The Closer. Love the Muppet Show, though that's been off air forever.
Atc or smaller sized portraits of my pets. I like seeing others interpretation of their personality from a picture. - a brush roll, never had one and I'd love to keep my growing collection of brushes safe and portable - fun pens - carved stamps - I love candy, but the humidity here makes it hard to send such things. There is only a small window of time where something may survive even a half hour in say, a mailbox here. The window of time is probably only nov. - feb. -unusual beads - inchies inchies inchies. Love 'em. -address labels are very useful, and I'm so computer illiterate I don't ever print them for myself
I lean towards fun and happy whimsical things. I don't like attaching a name to this but kawaii is something I would say is cute and happy. The range doesn't stop there. I like bold colors, and I love rainbows. I like making random things rainbow. I like animals. I love domesticated animals, and for artistic purposes, I like peacocks, owls, cats if all shapes and sizes, frogs, dragons, griffons,.... Basically anything with a fun pattern to it, or interesting looking, including mythical. I love the arts. Anything having to do with music, theater, or other performance.
Things I'm not so crazy about: vintage dusty romantic style stuff. Spiders. Fake people. I sway from religious things or political. I just prefer to keep it on the fun side. I don't like figurines or other such dust collector type items. I would really kind of dislike things that are slapped together or sloppy. Not being all that great at something is one thing, but to spend no time on something is another.
I love to draw. Charcoal, illustration, colored pencil.... Love it all. I like to paint. Haven't worked with oil so much but I've learned to love watercolor, and I'll dabble with acrylic. I like to paint rocks. I like to make little inchie tiles out if clay and paint them. I like little things. I like crafts that are intricate and take concentration. Pysanky, bead weaving, and most forms of stitchery. Funny for someone like me, who is for the most part, impatient. I like jewelry making and polymer clay and carving stamps. Other things I've dabbled in: resin, tatting, ceramics, quilling, paper cutting. I like combining crafts.
About sending to me: I will rate you in a timely manner. If its been weeks and you have no rating from me, something went wrong, and please feel free to contact me, it wont bother me. I am also generous in rating. If for some reason life gets in the way of your swapping, please don't be worried about communicating that to me. Also, I will rate you based on your swap item, don't feel you need to send extras. Some things I just don't have any use for. In the same respect, if I get extras, they will not go to waste, I will certainly pass them along as an extra in something I swap. So, please don't be offended by that. If I can't use it, I feel the best way to respect the act of you giving me something extra is to pass it along to someone else who might use/like it. When I say I rate based on your item, that means,... PLEASE don't send me something you very obviously spent 5 minutes on, and a pile of extras. I will rate you a 5 because I have to, and I will be nice enough not to comment on that, but I spend a lot of time on things I swap and I won't pretend that a ton of extras and a shoddily made ATC impresses me at all. I'm not being snobby, and it hasn't happened yet, but truely, I'm much more likely to rate you well if I know effort has been made, EVEN IF something happened and you are a few days late.
About receiving from me: I haven't been late in sending yet, so if you don't get something from me in an acceptable amount of time, let me know so I can start planning on remaking whatever it is that went missing. If I ever am late, I would let you know, because if I have to drop everything I'm doing and tend to my life, I'd rather let you know and deal with the (hopefully understanding) consequences, rather than slap the rest of my swap together and send it off in less than what condition that I would be proud of. That said, please do understand that most often I work on more than one thing at a time, and more often than not, I send a day or 2 before send outs, or the day of. I don't do the whole, 'make your item ahead of time' unless the swap parameters are very specific. I like to wait for partners and look at preferences. The one time I didn't do that, I saw a note in my partners profile that had me remaking my ATC because of a preference. Plus, some people don't like pink, don't like rainbows and such, and these are things I do like, and I'm very liable to use unless I see someone hates those things. Plus, I send extras just because I like to, but there's quite a few people that don't want anything extra at all, it will go in the trash, etc,.... In cases like that I dont. Anyhow, I think that about covers it! Hope you enjoyed swapping with me if you are here reading this. :0)

The paper was made with ultra fine glitter on Scor Tape. I'm still a newbie with the process, but it's fun to create and then color with Copics.
I sent you a glittery ATC about 10 days ago. It should be arriving soon!
