I am Krumbling! I am a happily married, young adult cat parent / writer who is hanging onto this roller-coaster ride of life one day at a time. I'm swapping to spur my creative side, force myself to pay attention to deadlines, and also to notice time passing, hahaha! I also swap for the joy of bringing in mail for my cats. They love mail.
I grew up in Indiana; spent my entire childhood in the same house, actually. When I went to college I moved to West Virginia and fell in love with the mountains, so now I'm here to stay. I have two cats and no kids and that's the way I like it. I have a degree in English but work in human resources in order to keep my writing where I like it: happily in my free time. I love hosting game nights with my friends and cooking for my partner and my roommate. I also love playing with my cats.
I enjoy thrilling outdoor activities like rock climbing, riding roller coasters, sports and exercising equally as much as I enjoy calming ones, like tai chi/yoga, playing the violin, and reading and writing.
I absolutely adore words and writing in all its forms: audiobooks, spoken word poetry, poems, writing, reading, literary puns, author biographies, linguistics, etymology, e-books, kindles, crosswords, etc. If it has a word or letter on it, I love it.
My 24/7 hobby is also being around cats.
I will listen to almost any genre of music except country music (unless it's Country Roads by John Denver, our unofficial state anthem), and my favorites are rock, metal, screamo, rap, K-pop, pop, and Christian. I also have a very special affinity for musical theater and show tunes. I consider their energy and vivaciousness a pure joy. My favorite musicals currently are Falsettos, Dear Evan Hansen, Be More Chill, Spring Awakening, and Frozen.
As for films, I prefer dramatic or eccentric indie films and anything that makes me consider or reconsider my place in the world. My favorite movies are Donnie Darko; Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl; Phantom Thread; and Luca.
I read A LOT, but I don't really have a favorite author. I like sci-fi novels, horror novels, short story collections, poetry books, Christian-themed fiction, nonfiction self-help books, and anything with a cynical narrator.
I am also very entertained by my cats and cats in all forms: cats in movies (The Aristocats), cats in music (Cats the musical), cats in paintings (give me Theophile Steinlen's iconic La Tournee du Chat Noir poster any day!) and cats in zoos (large cats and small cats alike!).
I'll try any craft once. I've dived into crocheting, knitting, plarn, papier mache, glue crafts, string dolls, collaging, blackout poetry, sculpting, sewing, photography, sketching, charcoal, watercolors, colored pencils, and scrapbooking (among others). I wouldn't call myself an expert in any, but I am certainly an avid explorer into all the arts. One of the things I love about swapbot is being able to discover and try new crafts! I am here because I have an affinity for crafting and I want to spend more time with it to learn and improve. I believe this is the perfect community to support growth and passion for the casual creative arts.
I've probably created a cat by using each of these methods at least once.
