I'm a 23 year old recent grad interested in gender-related issues and foreign cultures. I love to travel and have been abroad to Australia, New Zealand, Ecuador, Spain, and Mexico. I have two cats and a dog, which I love very much. I am nearly-fluent in Spanish and have basic knowledge of American Sign Language (finger spelling & basic communication).
I'm living in Washington with my boy and his family. I work at Walt Disney World at the Frontierland area stores. I LOVE all things Disney-related. I also work at a physical therapy clinic as an aide.
I've been a vegetarian for over a decade now and it is something I'm very passionate about.
I just adopted a 9 week old kitten named Olivia. She's a domestic medium hair tabby. Her current favorite activities include laying on computers while watching fish tank videos, batting at noses, playing with her electronic mouse spinner, and cuddling.
I have a 3 year old dog named Lucky. He's a half Chow-half Akita mix and looks like a little lion. He's a very powerful chewer and likes to destroy anything not designed to survive brutal attacks. He really likes wearing human bandanas around his neck. He has a yellow and a red one right now.
I also have a 5 year old cat named Smidgee. She's a black, gray, and white tabby rescue. She likes to play with little stuffed things (without catnip). She's very cuddly and likes to snuggle under the covers at night.
*Sadly Lucky and Smidgee stayed with my parents in Indiana.
I like to knit, scrapbook, sew, and work with clay. I've lately become obsessed with knitted food! I've only successfully made donuts thus far, but it's so much fun! I've tried my hand a knitted hats and I'm currently working on a seed stitch baby blanket. But my TRUE love is writing. I completed NaNoWriMo (write a novel in 30 days) in 2008 and 2010.
LIKES:
- things with Chow-Chow dogs/puppies
-knitted/plushie food
-happy/smiling food
-things that look like food but aren't (I'm obsessed)
-Cupcakes/pastry items
-stuff with Spanish/American-Sign Language featured on it
-cultural items
-the colors yellow & pink
-Andes mints or any mint-chocolate combo
-Scents: Cinnamon, Apple, Gingerbread, Mint, Strawberry
-anything related to Disney/Disney Parks
-foreign currency (I collect currency. COINS are my favorite!)
-socks (any size crazy-looking socks. I like sock animal making)
DISLIKES:
-decidedly religious things (holiday things are OK)
-flower-scented things (I'm allergic!!)
-perfume/perfume-scented items (I'm allergic!!)
-Meat-related things (please DO NOT send with something decorated with meat items. I'm a vegetarian and I will NOT like it)
-Candy with Gelatin in it (again, I'm a vegetarian and can't eat gelatin-Skittles, Gummies, Marshmallows, Junior Mints, anything chewy)
-Grass-scented things (yes, they actually have "freshly cut grass" scented candles)
-Coffee
I listen to alternative rock/metal. I HATE country music. My favorite bands are Everclear, Three Days Grace, Alanis Morissette, and Nickelback. To me, music is about lyrics I can connect with.
I love That 70's Show, Scrubs, The Office, Big Love and Gilmore Girls. I am also terribly addicted to reality tv shows (mainly Survivor and The Amazing Race).
I'm very bad at finishing books I start, but love reading. Lately I've been reading books about writing (with prompts, tips, and the such). My favorite author is Douglas Adams. I like the Harry Potter series, though I'm not a die-hard Potter-fanatic. My favorite books always involve heavy character development and are usually part of a series of books that revolve around the same characters.
I'm VERY picky about movies. I can't stand horror movies and don't like very many action movies. I'm a sucker for chick flicks and movies with happy endings. My favorites are: 10 Things I Hate About You, The Holiday, About a Boy, Where the Heart Is, Volver, Todo sobre mi madre, and ALL Disney movies. I've been trying to find "Ma vie en rose" (not to be confused with "La vie en rose"), which we watched in one of my college classes but didn't finish. It's apparently impossible to find here.
I have quite a few allergies that I wanted to quick list for any potential partners:
-flowers/pollen (flower scented things also)
-perfume
-fake gold/silver (doubt this will even come up unless it's involving earrings)
-hay
-bleach (if you use bleach on an item, let me know and I'll be sure not to hold it for very long)
-gelatin (ok, this isn't an allergy but I can't eat anything with gelatin in it!)
He's a 24 year old college student. He likes:
-Baseball (his team is the Texas Rangers) and baseball cards (any old or new ones you want to send our way would be awesome!)
-Football (Dallas Cowboys)
-Legend of Zelda stuff (Ocarina of Time is his favorite)
-Megaman
-Haunted Mansion stuff (he's a seasonal Disney World Butler and loves his mansion)
-Cooking devices
-Philmont Scout Ranch stuff (here's a way to guarantee a heart!)
-Star Wars stuff
-Reese's anything
