Financial upheaval derailed a few swaps. My plan is to make good on every single one as soon as possible.
IF I OWE YOU SOMETHING, I promise to get it out as soon as I can.
I understand if you feel it necessary to rate me down for this, but please know it was not by design and I will make good on every swap, so long as my partner is willing.
NOTE: I want everyone to come away from a swap satisfied with what I've sent. If not, please message me if you have any problems with a swap. I promise, I'll make it right.
I'm 33, live outside of Chicago and I work in the transportation industry. I am also presently a grad student in English Lit. I recently lost my 13 year old pit bull; I adopted a puppy to give some company to my two ornery cats (one of whom is dumb as a box of hair, bless his heart). I spend most of my time reading, writing, and just going wherever the wind takes me.
I've decided I want to be a Sweet Potato Queen when (if) I grow up. I love ancient history, steampunk, the Victorian era, and 1930's Hollywood glam. I'm fascinated with pretty much anything vintage! My favorite color is GREEN.
I collect religious medals, relics and jewelry, anything to do with Disney's Robin Hood, Tarot cards and playing card decks. I dig the spooky - vampires, werewolves, ghosts, monsters, anything creepy or goth. I like bats very much (I have two bat tattoos at this point with plans for more).
Favorite Books: It, Invisible Monsters, Wuthering Heights, Rachel's Holiday, The Sweet Potato Queen's Guide to Life, Dracula, Neverwhere, Dixieland Sushi, An Incomplete History of the Art of Funerary Violin, The Eyre Affair, The Forbidden Game, The Harry Potter series, Anything with vampires, demons, werewolves, etc, but not a fan of Twilight, 50 Shades, or any other Twilight-esque crap.
Favorite TV: NCIS (original and New Orleans), MAS*H, Gotham, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, Firefly, Doctor Who, Sherlock
Favorite Movies: Empire Records, Clue, Interview with the Vampire, The Princess Bride
Favorite Music: The Ataris, Anna Nalick, Bottlefly, Counting Crows, Sam Cooke, Rufus Wainwright, Green Day, The Beatles, New Kids On The Block, Abs Breen, Three Days Grace, Robbie Williams, Jet, Shinedown, Lady Gaga, Michael Bublé, Jordan Knight, Five (5ive), Most boy bands, Blessid Union Of Souls… to name a few.
Favorite Characters: Yoshi, Good Luck Bear (Care Bears), Jack Skellington, Garfield (80's cartoon version), Jade from Beyond Good & Evil, Ice Climbers sprites, Spyro the Dragon, Any horror icons: Freddy, Jason, Leatherface, etc, Snow White and the Wicked Queen, Faye, Pintsize and Hanners from QC (webcomic)
I try not to be picky but I have a few allergies and things. Please to not send any...
Tea: For some reason, even the smell of tea, hot or ice or otherwise, makes me really ill. Fruit and herbal is fine as long as it doesn't contain any actual tea leaves. Red tea is okay.
Flowery Scents: I have asthma and seem to react badly to any floral scented sachets, candles, potpourri, etc. I can handle clean, crisp scents - cucumber, linen, etc.
I love anything with felt but I'm not fond of the pre-packaged kits. I sew my own ideas, making things up as I go along. A lot of it turns out kind of... odd... but that's okay - I like it that way! Also love putting together construction paper crafts, from collages to wall hangings, etc.

'Read my profile and write me a comment'
Hallo from Germany and nice to meet you on swap-bot! So you are into ghosts and vampires? I have to admit that I am to rational to believe or think about such things. You do ghosthunting, too? WOW. As for your likes in music: New Kids on the Block?! I used to be a big fan back then at the beginning of the 90s. I still own thick folders of all the cut outs from newspapers and mags and have a look into them sometimes. Great memories. Have a nice day!
Hi Amanda,
I'm one of your partners for the 'Read my profile and write me a comment' swap!
If you like spooky/creepy I think you would enjoy my parents house, as my dad has a huge collection of weird/spooky/creepy things. From the classic monsters and a life-size Dracula (which, by the way, is not fun to run into in the dark) to human bones and skulls! :) Everyone I had over when I was little was either creeped out or super excited. Hah.
How long have you been living in Chicago? My mom grew up on the south-side, and I was born in Woodstock. I love being able to go there to visit as much as possible.
Happy holidays!
Hello! I'm one of your partners in the read and comment profile swap! I loved reading through your blog, very interesting stuff! I also adore Hollywood Glam. I'm trying to plan a wedding using a vintage theme -- from my jewelry to dress and the decor... I'm def trying for that vintage glamor! I once worked for a ghost hunter and learned some interesting stuff. I was his admin asst (he ran a publishing company and did the ghost work on the side), it was too funny of a job. From making a Myspace to network with other paranormal fans to scheduling ghost trips... certainly interesting! Hope you're enjoying Swap-bot so far!
Hiya, I'm not actually one of your partners for the read and comment swap, but i was just having a look thru the participants and really liked your profile.
I'm a big fan of the color GREEN too!! Also, I noticed you said about tarot cards. I had this idea cus I saw a swap for altered playing cards here's the link-- http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/52870 -- I thought it might be cool to do an altered deck of tarot cards? Or not neccesarily ALTERED but handmade? What do you think?
Anyway, have fun, happy swapping! x
