Please note: I'm Rachel; I have my husband's name on the account b/c the mail goes to his office. But I'm one swapping!
I'm a full-time stay-at-home mom living in Oregon and I love it. I have a 3 year old and a 6 year old and, therefore, I never seem to get enough sleep (insert yawn here).
I'm joining swap-bot to meet friends in new places, do some more crafts and get fun stuff in the mail. I always follow through with my commitments; I promise to always give my all to each swap. I love the idea of doing something special for someone you don't even know.
I love to laugh and have both a raunchy and a high-brow sense of humor. I love learning about everything, so if you can teach me something new I'll be your best friend. :)
In the past year I've become incredibly crafty (compared to my life before kids, when I was in non-profit management!) - making hair clips, stenciling fabric and designing little home decor things for my kids and friends. But my great love of the moment is sewing. I bought a sewing machine almost a year ago and I am completely obsessed with upcycling clothing for my kids. I'm also starting to sew new clothing items (so far without patterns).
I also love doing all kinds of craft projects with my kids (ages 3 and 6). I'm usually the last one at the table, still crafting while they're already off playing a game together. :0
I like things pretty simple. I'm usually dressed in a solid top with jeans black Doc Martens or dark athletic shoes. I love following fashion trends, but don't seem to work more than one or two into my wardrobe each season (if that!).
My favorite colors tend to be natural - blues, burgundy, teal, plum, grey, soft green, black and white. My home has the same pallette - moss green couches, impressionist art, medium and dark wood. Not so wild. Not so crazy.
With that said, when it comes to making clothes for my daughter and accessories for myself and my friends (bags, aprons, etc.) I love patterns. Some of my favorite fabrics are by Amy Butler, Michael Miller, Nicey Jane and Anna Maria Horner.
Learning, Smart people, Funny people, Dogs, Birds, Nature, Flowers, Things that are well made, Things that are well organized, Children's Books, Garage Sales, Resale Shops, Getting a great bargain, UCLA Bruins (both my husband and I went to UCLA), Crafting items (fabric - even small scraps are good for appliques!, buttons, notions, ribbons, etc.).
Btw, if you're stumped on what to make me, you are always welcome to make things that my kids will like. My 3 year old daughter loves butterflies and the color purple and my 6 year old son is obsessed with all things Star Wars (although he's afraid to watch the actual movie! he's such a sweetie).
Mad Men, Dexter, Boardwalk Empire, 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother, Fringe, Top Chef, Project Runway, Skins (UK),
I'm adding this section for the Dogs, Dogs, Dogs ATC...
I love little doggies! We have an 11 pound bichon frise named Max. He has the cute puppy haircut, not the show-dog poofball boufant. :) I truly love all animals, but small dogs really steal my heart. Of course, puppies of all kinds are amazing as well.
