I've been sewing most of my life, off an on, for different reasons. In the past couple of years I've been drawn to quilting as creative outlet, as well a means for gifting something personal to special people in my life. I also (despite the frustration it can bring), enjoy the challenge of figuring stuff out, and learning something new. Quilting is a reprieve from the daily grind, and an opportunity to create something tangible (a satisfaction I rarely get from my job).
I grew up sewing and crafting along side my mom and grandma so had the benefit of being exposed to a wide range of hobbies. Currently I've put the knitting aside and am concentrating on quilting, drawn back to it and re-energized by the "modern" quilting movement. I've come to very much like quilts where the use of bright color (rather than feature a novelty print) are the design highlight, however when I shop for fabric I'm always sucked into buying those irresistibly cute novelty prints. So, swapping seemed like a great way to expand the range of prints and colors in my stash, and I'm excited to try this out!
