Hi everyone!! I am a newbie here at swap-bot. I found out about this website through a friend and she told me it was a great site to meet new people and swap stuffs with people. That's what I was looking for.
A little about myself.. I am married and going to have my first child in 2012. Yay!!! I am very excited.
I am Asian and I am not born in United States. My family immigrated to the United States in 1992 after the Vietnam War. I am proud of my culture and hertiage. Every year we have a big new year celebration in Fresno, CA. There are just tons of things to buy and see.
I love bruno mars. The one song that I love the most from Bruno Mars is Just The WAy You Are. There are other artist that I listen to as well like Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, and Mariah Carey. I also listen to a lot of my native language music as well.
I love Hello Kitty and the color pink. I have hello kitty bags, clothes, stickers, letters, etc. I also have a big hello kitty plush doll that I love so much.
I also like scrapbooking. I recently started scrapbooking after I see what other people on youtube created. I have bought so many things like a big shot machine, prima flowers, ribbons, chipboard, anything for scrapbooking.
I love to ZUMBA! I go to zumba at least three to four times a week. Even I am 7 months pregnant, I am still doing zumba. I am planning on doing it till I can't anymore.
I love flowers and butterflies. They are very pretty and just make the environment looks more beautiful.
I like photography as well. I will love to try this next year when I can afford a canon camera. I don't know which brand I want yet. I think photography is a great way to collect memories. That's just want I wanted to do. But I just don't want standard pictures, I want to learn to take professional photos, so it'll be one of my goal next year to learn professional photography. I have always wanted to learn it since I am fascinated by all the photograph, photographer taken and they just look goregous and I want to learn how to do it myself.

Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See. It's my favorite. I love the story. I am planning to read more of Lisa See novels. I love her writing and stories. Everytime I read them, I feel strong emotion and connected to the characters in the novel. I think I will read Shanghai girl.
Also if anyone have any recommendation on great and sentimental novels, please do let me know because I would love to read them. When I was a child, I really didn't like to read and beside there was no one to encourage or help me to read. Now I feel really miss out on life. Just recently when I entered college, I started to read a lot because you know in college there's a lot of reading. I will like to continue my reading. You see, my reading list is very short and I tend to stick to one author when if I really like one of their novels, but I am also open to any new authors or books. So anyone out there have any great reccomendation, please leave me a comment.
Children books that I like:
Homeless Bird by Gloria Whelan (The best story I've ever read in my life.) I wasn't a reader when I was a young lady and I feel that I miss out on a lot of good books. This book was introduce to me when I took a reading class at a junior college and I just feel in love with it. I love Gloria Whelan novels. Her novels are mostly based on young girls from different culture (vietnamese, chinese, hindu, etc.) going through hardship in their life. These books are very poignant.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightening Thief by Rick Riordian ( I have the whole series from 1 to 5) I read this in college for my children's literature class and I like it.
The Giver by Lois Lowry
Hatchet by Gary Paulsen
Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix (My very first novel I ever read and finished) It was introduced to me when I was in 7th grade by my ESL teacher. This was when I started to learn how to read actively and not passively. I really didn't know any books title or authors before 7th grade because I have never read a novel before. When I was learning English in elementary, we mostly do workbook and read our text. There were couple times where teachers would read the class a novel, but I seldom pay attention because I was learning English at that time and just couldn't keep up with what the teachers were reading out loud in class. I hate reading aloud in class when I was elementary because I was bad at pronouncing words and I was shy since at that time I was learning English. Even today, English is still a struggle for me, but at least I am not as shy as I used to be. I find that the more I converse with people in English and read novels in English, I feel more confident to talk and ask people questions. So people, if my English writing is bad, please forgive.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and all of his others book. His book are great for young children since they are repetitive.
Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes - my favorite and I've been reading it to my baby girl. I am going to name her Chrysanthemum since I love flowers and the name Chrysanthemum is just absolutely perfect for my baby girl.
I also love children's fairytales. They are whimiscal and magical. I like the 12 dancing princess, Cinderella, The Princess and the Frog, Rapunzal, Jack and the Bean stalk, etc.
Okay!! It seems like every novel I read here have a story of my own behind. lolz!! I think that's about all the book I've read or could think of now.
