I'm a mother of three lovely children and while I work part-time my heart and head are never far from them and my home. My husband and I have been friends for 21 years (okay we met when we were 13) married for 5. We have two moody dogs that fit our family to a tee. I love my crazy hectic life!
Right now I'm really bummed! About a week ago I spent over an hour adding to this profile and now it's not here...ugh! When I have the patience to do it again I will :)
I will note that I am one of those weird people that hates having a cell phone, doesn't have cable or satellite tv-heck the main reason we still have a tv is to watch movies :), recycles religiously, doesn't use a microwave, doesn't eat a lot of processed foods, my kids are extemely unlucky in that I will not be getting them cell phones, hand held video gaming units and anything else that helps them disconnect from the people in front of them.
Wow...I hate naming a genre because I'm all over the place. Here's what I've been listening to lately. Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, Menomena, Neko Case, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews, Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, Adele, Ray LaMontagne, etc. etc.
I'm a classic literature nut! Books like Jane Eyre, How Green Was My Valley, and even War and Peace are as comfortable to me as a pair of worn gloves.
However, I also like alot of modern novels and even some -gasp- non-fiction. Mainly being crafting books. I'd love to get my hands on that big giant Martha book. Not that my crafts are as detail oriented as hers but I still admire the perfection in them!
I've had a bad case of ADD here lately. I can't seem to sit still long enough to watch a movie. But some of my past favorites include: The Goonies, Amelie, Moulin Rouge, Breakfast at Tiffanys, Sid and Nancy, Waking the Dead, Pride and Prejudice, every Scooby Doo created (okay I don't know if I really like them as much as my kids do but they are soooo much more tolerable than alot of kid flicks!)
Just went to see Where the Wild Things Are...it was okay. I enjoyed it I just wish I hadn't brought my kids to see it :)
Okay, again with the ADD. BUT, I have made a habit of watching Fringe.
I prefer refab stuff, things that have a history, oh what am I saying...I love it all! It's just fun to take an item and create something with it. My kids especially like to watch me make something and know that it is for them. It just makes your heart feel a little warmer. Crafters out there know what I'm talking about.
Okay here's some more particular info:
Right now I'm actually crocheting one of my little sisters a bunting for her soon to be baby! I wish I could knit but I've never been able to get a good handle on it.
Speaking of things I wish I could/would do, I'm NOT a scrapbooker. I buy the supplies and look at them in all their prettyness and just haven't the heart to cut into them or actually stick them to anything, lol. Maybe someday.
I've recently been turned on to quilling and I think I'm going to give it a whirl. Get it a whirl...quilling. I know it's not that funny but still :)
I like handmade things.
My favorite colors are orange and red.
I like eclectic things that are a little off the wall. Once at an antique store I saw this gigantic paper mache carnival head mask thing and I'm regreting not buying it for my living room decor if that gives you any idea.
I love old books. My husband and I have been known to go to book sales and buy a book based solely on cool titles, ex. "You leave me cold" "He ran all the way"
I'm a card-carrying tree-hugger so anything that has to do with nature, recycling, organics, reusing, etc. I love it!
Like I said in crafts, I wish I could knit and obviously covet those things which I cannot provide for myself :)
Heres a quick wish list: tea-any flavors chocolate-the darker the better fabric- of the vintage persuasion buttons beads vintage photos lace/ribbons glitter and glitter glue sequins stationery notecards scented items: citrus, cotton or full-on floral
ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING THAT SAYS ERIN GO BRAUGH!
I can't really think of any other specific likes...or dislikes for that matter. Well actually...don't hate me but I'm not a big fan of the whole anime looking stuff. Sorry.
Learning Point #1 So yeah, I think I got flaked (if that's when you send something and they don't rate you) on a Newbie Penpal swap...sad right?
Learning Point #2 So yeah, I usually just join the swap after reading the instructions/rules in the main box, not in the posted comments below it. Note to self-not every 'blogger' user knows how to add a blog with their dashboard reading list, even those hosting a blog follower swap. Now I know and knowing is half the battle. So please forgive me for not leaving you a rating for NOT following me. :)
Learning Point #3 So yeah, why does it seem I have to enter comments into my profile twice before they are finally saved?lol
