Hi! I'm Natalie, i'm 30 and I live in a rather small town in the north of England. At the moment I spend my life working in a shop, although I would love to be a primary school teacher, so I hope I can retrain in the next few years.
I studied East Asia at university, where I learnt a bit of Japanese (it's pretty rusty now). I love Japanese history and literature, and I am also quite interested in South Korea, I would like to learn Korean if I ever get the time. I've never been able to travel to Asia but I hope that at some point I can.
I spend so much time reading! I love all kinds of books, although my favourite remains Japanese literature. I read contemporary fiction in general. I am not a huge fan of YA fiction, chic lit or historical romance.
I also like to cook and bake, I am vegetarian so I mostly make vegetarian and vegan food. I am, like everybody else, addicted to the great british bake off and I try to bake as often as a possibly can. Although I am certainly not up to contestant standards yet!
I also love art and have a growing collection of limited edition prints. I do like to draw although I don't have as much time as I would like to do this in. I am really into making zines at the moment.
I love snail mail and letter writing. I like to swap some small items, such as washi tape, stickers, stationary, tea, zines...etc.
I make an effort to get all of my swaps out early, so if you don't receive something from me please let me know!! Also, please tell me if for some reason I forget to rate you. I try to rate as soon as I get things but somethings do get over looked.
If you think we have a lot in common and you would like to swap with me or write, please let me know!!
Food **NO jelly sweets as these tend to not be vegetarian
**vegetarian and vegan recipes
Tea I have a massive tea collection, I buy it all the time! The only tea I don't like is black, typical British tea, or any tea that you have to add milk to (apart from Chai). I'm also not keen on lemon or citrus teas, and I would not like to receive teas that act as laxatives!
POSTCARDS I would prefer to receive postcards that are NOT sent in an envelope - i.e a postcard that has been written on and is then stamped and posted.
Dislikes - I would not like to receive anything of the following - religious, advertising, babies (like anne geddes etc), I think that's it! I also don't like anything too silly or cartoony. I love older cartoons, like the ones by Don Bluth, and I like Studio Ghibli, but I am not generally a fan of manga or anime, and I really am not keen on Disney or anything like it.
Margaret Atwood - Oryx and Crake
A.S.Byatt - The Children Book
Angela Carter - Wise Children
Susanna Clark - Johnathan Strange and Mr Norell
John Connoly - The book of lost things
John Fowles - The French lieutenants woman
Neil Gaiman - American Gods
Barbara Kingsolver - The Lacuna
Erin Morginstern - The night circus
Ruth Ozeki - a tale for the time being
Ali Shaw - the girl with glass feet
Donna Tartt - the goldfinch/the secret history
Scarlet Thomas - popco
Sarah Waters - the night watch
Jeanette Winterson - sexing the cherry
Robin Hobb - the whole lot!

Got your letter and tea today, thank you so much! Could you please remind me what it was that I sent along with yours? I can't for the life of me remember, and I'd be mortified if I sent the same extra twice! lol...will write back soon. :D
Happy Zining!
Hello & thank you tons for hosting these monthly zine swaps! It hit me this morning what theme I was going to use for each month. I am excited to be in these swaps. Happy weekend, Ellie
