Hi! -- I'm 42, married, one daughter, two beagles. I work full-time in a nonprofit organization. I live in a small town in Connecticut, half way between Boston and New York City (about 2 hours either way). My favorite past-times are doing almost any types of arts and crafts, watching movies (no scary or bloody ones!), walking in the woods, and spending time with my family.
In my spare time (what working mother has spare time???) I like to do mixed media art, mostly with found paper from old books, magazines, etc. I especially like making blank greeting cards, since it's always so nice to get something handmade in the mailbox. I also love fabric, and sometimes make small art quilts when I'm feeling ambitious. I just started an etsy shop to see if I can start selling some of my cards and collages, so if you'd like to get a better look at the type of stuff I do, take a look at www.papercoyote.etsy.com. I love to swap art and art supplies!
I've been doing alot of artwork recently with neutral colors - browns and beige, cream, white and black. This past week was all pink and brown. But I really love bright colors, and hope to do more artwork this spring with orange, hot pink, bright green and lemon yellow.
I just love vintage paper and books, especially engravings. Old text, any language, encyclopedias, dictionaries.
I also love vintage textiles - hand-crocheted lace doilies, enbroidered handkerchiefs, really anything done by hand, made of cotton or silk.
Anything horror or Goth or dark or depressing. Or on the other hand, I don't care for the overly cutesy prepackaged sentimental, unless it's handmade or hand-drawn.
