(If you are reading this for the blogger swap, let me just say that the blog is part of my website which is all about easy and fun ways to give back to the world. So it is a little different from most blogs. I will be happy if you take a look at my website and mention it to someone or on your blog. I am big into what I am calling "philanthropic literacy!" To be honest, the blog is just a way to keep up with new additions to the site. I do hope you will like it.)
I am a librarian-educator working for a literacy nonprofit and a few other part time jobs. I live in Western Massachusetts. I used to live in Vermont, and also lived in Japan for many years. I have two children who are grown up now. I have five cats who never seem to grow up. I like books, martial arts, flowers, fresh vegetables (I have a CSA share) and beautiful colors.
I like classical, Bonnie Raitt, the blues, folk, and shape note singing. I like old jazz as well. Oh, and I like Japanese pop music from the seventies and the eighties (you had to be there).
I'm not a big movie fan. I don't know why... I lose interest in most of them.
Don't watch much tv....I like House Hunters, though. I'm more of a reader since I work in a library and have great access to a lot of books. And I have a whole collection of books about Japan that I always love.
I used to do flower arranging.... I admire beauty and those who create beautiful things very much. I have just started to learn to quilt and I am already loving it so much that I can't stop doing it. I have about twenty quilts in my head that I can't wait to make. For some reason I want to make a soft grey quilt! I like to make postcards, but I can't say I am so good at it. I like Japanese paper of any kind.
As a new quilter I am trying to build up a fabric stash, so remnants are always appreciated.

I'm a librarian, do you want to know ALL my favorites??? Yikes.
I always enjoy what I receive in swaps. It is just that the idea of swapping makes me so happy. I find that folks here go the extra mile. I try and do that too when I can. I like all kinds of colors, but not bright orange and neon colors. I like touristy postcards because I am an armchair traveler at best. I like postcards of diners or pie if you happen to have one like that.
I don't like anything too cutesy and that includes kawaii stuff. I burnt out on it I guess. I do like Japanese stuff, though in general. Please don't send me anything scented or sweet. I am more of a coffee person than a tea person, but I do love trying new tea.
Don't worry about what you send me; swapping should be fun for both of us. Surprise me! I am very appreciative of all of you!
