I am a 20 year Navy veteran who is finding out that I have lots of time on my hands to do some of the things that I really enjoy :D I grew up in Missouri and I love living near the ocean. I have a beautiful daughter that makes me proud on a daily basis and a wonderful husband.
I joined the Navy when I was 18 years old and traveled to several different countries. I started my Navy journey as an aircraft mechanic then after 8 years changed my job to Naval Aircrewman. I flew on the E6 Mercury for 4 years. I finished out my last 2 tours as a career Recruiter.
The whole time I was in I tried to craft but found that my time was limited. I found myself crochetingmy nephews baby blanket while flying over the Atlantic Ocean :) I learned crochet from my mother, quilting from a friend, drawing from my father, knitting from the internet and have recently started drilling holes in sea glass to make jewelry.
I retired in July 2013 and it has since been a culture shock for me. Going from a job and friends that I have had for 20 years to being home, I am having a hard time finding things to do, actually motivating things!! When I found this website I thought this would be an awesome thing tl be involved in. Dojng something nice for someone, meeting new friends.
I am really excited to get started and expand the creative side of my brain.
I really love photography, sewing, scrapbooking, and I like to doodle around with drawing! I crochet simple items like blankets, scarves, hats with embellishments. The only thing I have knit was a frilly scarf but it turned out so good that one of our local shops asked me to make more and sell them :). When I moved to North Carolina I found a new craft, sea glass jewelry. I go to the beach and look for sea glass. I drill holes and make charms for necklaces, bracelets, and key chains. It is such a beautiful craft!
I recently made a tea bag wallet and my own version of a pikle purse :)
I also made unpaper paper towels, those are fun. I am getting ready to purchase a snap machine so I can finish them properly. I guess I just like trying new things!
I love all music! I especially like Frank Sinatra, Neil Diamond, Bob Marley, anything from the 60/70's.
