I am a wife, a mum of 7 (5 daughters & 2 sons ranging in age from 46 yrs old - 26 yrs old .. all who were homeschooled), as well as a gramma of 17 (12 girls & 5 boys - ranging in age from 27 yrs old - 6 months)💕
I live in Western Pennsylvania about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh.
I love to sew which is a good thing since it is what I do just about every day. I was the costumer for close to 20 years with 2 local children's theaters/acting schools( I retired in 2016). Since 2015, I have been sewing Early Frontier ( 1790 - 1840) reenactment clothing for a local company's inventory and orders.
Some of my kids and I also dress in costumes that we create and go to Renaissance festivals as often as we can. We've been going to the one in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for over 18 years and in the past few years have been to the St. Louis Ren Faire and the Great Lakes Medieval Faire in Ohio. My profile picture was taken at the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival.
In the past few years, my youngest daughter has been bitten by the Cosplay Comic Con bug. (Cosplay is when you dress as characters from books, movies and tv shows and go to conventions. We make her costumes together which has been a fun mother/daughter bonding time :) ) and my youngest son has also joined in on the fun.
I am also an avid reader - mainly historical fiction and journals/diaries but I also love to read fantasy ( Lord of the Rings & Harry Potter etc ) . Some of my favorite books:
Sharyn McCrumb’s Ballad series
S.K. Pellman’s Welsh Trilogy
Stephen Lawhead’s Robin Hood trilogy
War of the Roses trilogy: Conn Iggulden
Kate Morton: all of her books!
The Education of Little Tree : Forrest Carter
I Heard the Owl Call My Name: Margaret Craven
To Kill A Mockingbird: Harper Lee
My favorite season is the Fall but I also love winter especially when it snows at night. Its so magical.
I love the night sky. LOVE watching meteor showers and enjoying the Moon.
I love history - I love reading and learning about the Westward Expansion.
I am also the family genealogist.
I love maps and always have as far back as I can remember! :) I have maps hanging up in my house - okay so they are maps of Middle Earth, Narnia, and a whimsical map of Olde London :) Give me a book with a map in the front and I am in my glory!
I love writing and receiving letters & postcards .
I am a tea drinker - mostly black teas though I do enjoy orange cinnamon tea in the Fall and Winter.
I have an eclectic taste in music - it all depends on my mood. I listen to Loreena McKennitt, Blackmore's Night, Birdy, Helen Jane Long ( contemporary pianist), Secret Garden, Gaelic Storm, musicals and soundtracks. And sometimes I revisit the early 70's and listen to the groups I listened to in high school - Steppenwolf, Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Jackson Browne and Melanie.
