About Me

hi, my name is robyn and i really enjoy collaging with little kids, eating cereal and soymilk, writing on typewriters, words in general, as well as long walks on the beach. my favorite colors are teal, greens, vibrant colors, charcoal, and (robin's egg) blue. i dig using unsuspected materials for creative projects; i'm thinking this will motivate me to think/make/do more!

i like making simple jewelry, photography (especially b&w), cards, and journaling. i also loove cooking; i make excellent soups and pancakes. i try to stay mainly vegetarian and dairy-free, but i've got a weak spot for seafood somethin fierce.

i want to travel as much as possible, with my soul-partner artie, and write words that could help accept change. anything that doesn't require electricity or batteries is my friend. i love all things strange, unique, bizarre, and completely "normal"-the weirdest things of all!

Favorite Music

The Books, Joanna Newsom, James Brown, Tool, Pinback, Chicago, Rod Stewart, Spice Girls, The Blow, Mirah, Boards of Canada, Beck, Radiohead, Explosions in the Sky, The Beatles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Aphex Twin, oldies, 90s pop/rock, all kinds of everything: absolutely don't like nothing (except really hokey country maybe).

Favorite Books

Wide Sargasso Sea, Carnival, Tao Te Ching, Hannibal, Red Dragon, Lucy, The Hummingbird's Daughter, The Dew Breaker, The Bell Jar and on and on and so.

kindergarten

I saved stickers in a time capsule from kindergarten. I opened it when I graduated high school, and promptly began to use them; there were a ton. Those stickers are some of the most meaningful things in my life, besides sincere friends and artie.

some of my favorite tings

raindrops roses [flowers] kittens brown paper packages string stamps (rubber & postal) fun paper writing letters and sending cards swimming, bike riding, glass teapots, dance parties when no one's watching, procrastination, doodles, photos of strangers, friendly dogs, deer, strawberries, typewriters, growing from seed, pretty much any animal (but especially bunnies...and cats...i also like rats), little antiques, hiking, mochi ice cream balls, dragons & unicorns, old paper, Spanish & Hindi, pens & pencils, colored tape, smell-goody things, nature & natural materials (especially bamboo, hemp & cotton), antidisestablishmentarianism.

just can't get enough:

♥recycled goods/crafts (inventive things): especially recycled paper, i love paperbag-type brown paper.

♥people's handwriting

♥revolutionary ideas

♥dreams, lucid dreams, and the nature of reality. whatever that means :)

collecting:

if i get any of this stuff i'll definitely be jazzed: old magazines or books, doodles/sketches, photos, maps, stationary/cards/envelopes, stickers, origami paper, quotes that really mean something to you, not just sound good to you. old cameras, playing cards/tarot cards/go fish cards/whatever cards, and i guess just things that are neat and (can) have purpose in general!

words

"Honey, the Western mind is a fever. It will pass." -Linda Hogan

"...the hysterical grandsuck of the sea..." "And above all, my body as well as my soul, beware of assuming the sterile attitude of spectator, for life is not a spectacle, a sea of miseries is not a proscenium, a man screaming is not a dancing bear..." -Aimé Césaire

"Let's go to the administration building and tag 'assholes' in various colors." -from movie "Freedom Writers"

not too into:

glitter, princessy stuff, ornamental items (like overkill on doo-dads or fringe or ribbonry or lace, etc.)

I'm pretty easy to please, as long as you enjoyed putting it together, I'll probably enjoy it too!
