About Me

I'm having a little break from swapping for a couple of months - I've sent out all my swaps, and I will come back to rate the ones I receive. If you don't receive a package from me, then please let me know!

I live in the east of England with my husband. Together, we love to create relief prints - wood engravings, lino cuts, wood cuts etc, and soon we are about to branch out into letterpress which is very exciting!

I love cooking, growing vegetables in our tiny postage-stamp sized garden, walking, sewing and filling our house with far too many second-hand books. I adore reading, and am never without a book. I collect vintage Penguin paperbacks, at the moment I'm trying to collect the first 100 1st editions but it's a slow process!

I spend far too much time and money on clothes, and have now begun to make my own on a 1950s Singer sewing machine. I love collecting all kinds of things - I have dozens of little boxes and tins all over the place filled with treasures of every age, colour, shape and size!

Favorite Music

I love The Decemberists, Beirut, Joanna Newsom, Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins, Ed Harcourt, British Sea Power, Sufjan Stevens, Belle and Sebastian, Camera Obscura, Super Furry Animals, Adam Green, Bonnie Prince Billy and the like! I also love old music and a bit of classical now and again!

Favourite Authors

A.S. Byatt, Thomas Pynchon, Robertson Davies, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Louis de Bernieres and similar. I'm also one for trashy historical fiction as a bit of escapism!

Favourite Colours and Patterns

Orange, brown, green and gold. I love autumnal colours, as well as bright jewel colours. I love spotty things, as well as unusual prints and patterns from the 50s, 60s and 70s.

Favorite Crafts

Printmaking, dress making, sewing, photography, paper crafts and drawing.

I love tea of all kinds, and I have discovered so many interesting ones through Swapbot! I like black tea, green tea, herbal tea, fruity tea etc - I don't often meet with a teabag that I don't enjoy!

I sometimes drink fresh coffee, but not very often - and I'm not keen on cappucino mixes etc, although I still drink them if I receive any!

I love chocolate, and hot chocolate as well! Any sweeties or chocolate that I can't get in England always cause great excitement!

I rarely wear make-up, although I do have a growing collection of nice lip balms and chap sticks which I use all the time!

Comment: Wow, that was fabulous. Beautiful letterpress, excellent source material, and a fun code. Did you know that there was a typo in your code? Totally confounded me, but I figured it out eventually and that made it a lot more intriguing. The book ends on page 172, but one of the code lines refered to page 187. I finally got it when I skipped that line of code and reached a letterpressed number in your code that I couldn't tell what it was (it was an italic 2, but the ink had bled and it looked like a 3). That clued me in to think about the form of 187 - the actual page number was 137 (but that 3 in the book looked like an 8). Message solved! You kept me, my husband, and our geeky houseguest well entertained over breakfast. Thanks so much.

Comment: Just got your package! What can I say! Wow! I love it all! Thankyou so much. It was all so beautifully wrapped up, and I had so much fun opening all the little packages. It was like christmas all over again! :D The stationery is so beautiful, I love it so much. You should get more hearts, I wish I could give you more than one! I am ashamed that I haven't answered your letter yet, I do have it on a pile of letters I need to answer! I will write to you soon. I can't wait to use my beautiful new stationery! Off to make myself a cup of jasmine tea. :D

Comment: What a wonderful note and lovely additions (homemade card is gorgeous and I love the postcards). The separate postcard arrived today, too, and it is so perfect for my mapcard collection. I envy your small vegetable garden. We made zucchini brownies the other day... interesting way to use up extra zucchini!
