i like stuff. all sorts of stuff. (i'm still filling this out, so here's a basic introduction.)

i'm an avid reader, a film lover and a tv junkie. i like my kindle, but i love real books more. i film fest with the best of them, but i'm not afraid to wave my trashy tv flag. i like independent films and pretty little liars equally. i like geek toys and assorted nerdery, from video games to wind up toys. i'm awesome to have on a pub quiz team.

i'm a craft and office supplier hoarder. crafting forays include knitting, crocheting, quilting, sewing, chain maille, clay work, paper crafts, painting, wood burning and so on. and that's just in the past month.

i miss zine culture and mixtapes and mail. so here i am.

i love music, but honestly i don't listen to many new releases. i'm still stuck in the '90s i think. but here's a list of bands i like (one for every letter of the alphabet seems like a good plan):

note: after i started this list i realized that i was really reaching for some letters, while others had about a million possible options. this was not the best idea i had...

i read. a lot. i like general fiction, young adult, biographies and anything that looks/sounds interesting. i totally judge a book by it's cover, but sometimes that's ok.

favorite authors include: max barry, michael chabon, don delillo, will ferguson, lev grossman, haruki murakami, blake nelson, philip pullman, jd salinger, oliver sacks, kurt vonnegut and banana yoshimoto

ah, movies. i love me some movies. i actually take a week off of work every year to go to the dallas international film festival. i think i saw 32 one year!

some of my favorite directors are wong kar wai, hal hartley, richard linklater, noah baumbach, danny boyle, rian johnson, luc besson, the polish brothers and johnnie to.

i like pretty movies, black comedies, shoot 'em up flicks, surreal head scratchers, talk fests, art films and classics. god bless the marx brothers. and don't even get me started on sports movies -- the whole lot of them make me cry and i love them.

eeeks. i'm a tv junkie. i will watch reruns of friends, law and order svu and house every time they're on.

shows that i always recommend to people who want to netflix binge include sherlock, being human, awake, house of cards, the newsroom, pretty little liars, freaks and geeks, the it crowd, skins, buffy/dollhouse (angel was dumb) and the killing. off the top of my head. there are more, but i can't think straight right now. so many lists here!

full disclosure, i actually work at michaels, so i'm a little craft happy. i learned how to crochet when i was a kid, and it's been downhill since then. i have the most experience in knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting and jewelry making. for the past few years i've dabbled in polymer clay, wood burning, chainmaille, quilling, altered art and general fine arts.

pretty much if i see something interesting, i want to do it. and then i go out and spend a fortune on supplies and give it a shot. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. but everyone who knows me knows to expect handmade gifts at the drop of a hat.
